I was checking out the results on Drag Race Central and came across this:

He is the first to win in a door car in Super Comp in 10 years.

Is that for real? 10 years since a door car won an NHRA National Event in Super Comp?

The only other one I can even remember is Kleineweber at Joliet. A couple others have come close, but none sealed the deal.

Val Degonova won at Sanair and I think he beat Steve Cohen. Late '80's early 90's era...

Pretty sure there were some others and maybe with a clutch and a lenco....

I have talked to Chuck and helped him with a generator issue.....

Nice guy, and his car is fast for a doorcar....runs well over 170 in S/C and those big Fords run very well at the big end ! Probably fools a few dragsters not expecting it.....

Chuck is a good guy. It's always fun chatting with him. I'm glad a door car won.

A lot of guys feel it's the car that makes one win. I don't subscribe to that concept entirely. I think an experienced driver is the larger part of that equation. A good car helps.

Yup Larry Scarth won the 50th anniversary of NHRA Winternationals in 2001 in a DOOR CAR! 1989 Chevy Beretta. Omg 20 years ago, yikes! Finished 9th in the world. Heck of a year!

Congrats to Chuck. He did great in a very tough field. He's been a customer for 15 years and is really tough. He dials fairly honest and when you hit the tree well, the wins just fall into place.

Also, if we are talking about door cars in Super Comp, Greg Ventura won Super Comp with a door car years ago in Las Vegas.

Alan Firestone. I think 2000. Klienweber year?, Scarth 2001 (Pomona), Greg Ventura (Vegas) year? Slavinski '92 I think, Trotter 2021 Atlanta. More?
