There is no way to ease into why there is this raffle. A racer killed his wife, Brooke Zimmerman, then committed suicide. Thanks to Lee Newmeyer and Marco Abruzzi, they are having a raffle for the winner’s choice of an 8” or 9” converter built to the winner’s specs. $50 am entry, closes Monday night at 8pm, all of the proceeds are going to help Brooke’s family with the funeral expenses. If you’re a long time bike racer, or around the PA-MD area at least, Brooke’s dad is Don “Zippo” Zimmerman. Zippo, as you can imagine, is inconsolable and beyond heartbroken. Here’s to hoping this helps alleviate their stress even a little bit.

******Brooke Zimmerman Benefit Drawing******

Every penny goes toward helping Brooke’s family with funeral expenses

This benefit is been instituted and fully supported by Marco and everyone at Abruzzi Racing Transmissions and Converters to be a small part in helping the Zimmerman family.

https://www.bolgerfuneralhome..../BrookeNia-Zimmerman

Winner receives choice of 8” or 9” Abruzzi Racing Money Maker Converter built to their spec.

Payment forms:
PayPal (F&F only): thenewmeyers1@aol.com
Venmo: @Lee-Newmeyer (last 4 digits of phone number, 6191)

$50 a spot, as many spots as we can fill until Monday 12/25 at 8:00PM EST
Send payment as you enter if possible.
Will be drawn by entrant name on ticket stub.

Also, if you’re so inclined, there is a GoFundMe organized by Donny Algieri that will benefit the 5 kids, age 7 to 16, that have been left behind. $52k so far, and I have to give a huge shout out to Cody Spears and RC Components. They did a front wheel raffle that raised $11k of that total.

It’s been a F of a week. Frown

"Dunning-Kruger Effect"
-a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.

I would say extend it a few days to get more entries. That family needs the help.

Also Thank you to you or who ever arraigned this deal and Thank you to Marco Abruzzi and his team for their contributions.

This is a tragedy for the family of one of us and we need to help where we can.

COME ON EVERYONE STEP UP AND HELP OUT. Never met them but this is something we can do to help in some small way.

The raffle did get extended to today, and raised $11,500, just about covering all of the funeral expenses, and I have word that a donor will cover what the raffle didn't. Thank you to Lee Newmeyer and Marco Abruzzi for stepping up to do this, and to everyone who got an entry. The winner was Justin Logan.

The GoFundMe is almost at $94K. Zippo will be in control of it, and 100% of it will go to setting up 5 trust funds of equal amounts, one for each of the kids. If you'd like to donate, the link is the surviving kids GoFundMe

Racers are the best people. The response from the racing community is incredible, and whether you donate here, to your local causes, whatever they may be, or anywhere, I thank you.
