Don't be surprised if there are a lot of BIGFOOT sightings today. It's probably just a bunch of Footbrakers in search of $40,000...

All paths lead to Darlington, April 25-28, 2019!

IT'S RACE WEEK! The ATI Performance Products BIGFOOT $40K presented by Summit Racing Equipment is just days away. NHRA Sportsman National Champion Brian Hendrickson has already been by the Legendary Darlington Dragway en route to a little family vacation at the beach, but it won't be long before we're making some noise!

Darlington Dragway has their own test n' tune, grudge, and gambler's race program on Wednesday night (check out their page for more info). On Thursday, gates open at 1pm for the first-come, first serve $5,000 to win Legendary 64 Shootout. The $200 Entry includes test n' tune. The track operates the Test n' Tune, 4pm-9pm ($30 if not in the Shootout). Shootout Eliminations are scheduled for 6pm.

BIGFOOT was created to give Footbrakers their highest-paying event of the year, while the $475 Weekend Entry for 10K-40K-10K provides a great value, with Loose Rocker's famous strong round money and thousands of dollars in round prizes from our many great sponsors.

Don't forget, every Weekend Entry tech card from the six Loose Rocker 2019 events goes into a year-end drawing for your chance to win a 28' Vintage Trailer from Walton Trailer Sales (but if you need a trailer sooner, call Anthony at 910-382-6723!), a $2,500 Gift Certificate toward a set of Trick Flow cylinder heads, or one of two Loose Rocker Gold Cards!

The ATI Performance Products BIGFOOT 40K weekend presented by Summit Racing Equipment is underway! For the second year in a row, Kentucky's Charlie Lockhart etched a Thursday night win to kick things off, stopping former Fall Footbrake Frenzy 20K Champ Adam Vanderslice in the finals. Vanderslice defeated last year's Sunday R/U Todd Thoman in the semis, while Lockhart put out teammate Caleb Ellison in the other semifinal pairing on Ellison's -.0006 redlight.

The Summit $10K Warmup kicks off Friday with Time Trials at 9AM sharp. 1 TT per entry. Double entries will be called to the lanes first at 8:40AM.

If you were among those scared off by Friday's "90%" forecast, you missed a BEAUTIFUL day here at the 2nd Annual ATI BIGFOOT $40K presented by Summit. But fear not: you can still buy the discount $475 Weekend Entry to single enter Saturday's $40K and double-enter Sunday's $10K! All roads lead to Darlington Dragway!

The Summit $10K Warmup at the 2nd Annual ATI BIGFOOT $40K's presented by Summit is in the books. New Jersey's Steve Vancraeynest earned $10,000 when Maryland's Tony Mattera fell red with a -.007 bulb in the finals. Gage Burch was the lone semifinalist.

Vancraeynest also leads the Best Weekend Package with a .003 pkg. If it holds up, he could win a free weekend entry to the Competitive Suspension Solutions DOOR WARS: A Footbrake Experience, presented by PepBoys, coming to Maple Grove Raceway in October.

In the late rounds of the $3K Gamblers race, a wide ranging low power condition through both South Carolina and North Carolina, probably due to the high winds, led Duke Energy to cut power to work on the issue. They are supposed to be back up by 11pm.

We were down to 7 cars, and the drivers elected to take a healthy split: Anthony Fetch, Seth Phillips, Ernie Humes, Bob Mullaney, Dave Harvey, Caleb Ellison, and Nick Hastings.

You could say things got pretty serious... winning R/T's in Rnd 3:

The ATI BIGFOOT $40K presented by Summit $40,000 to win Main Event is on tap for Saturday. 1 Time Trial per entry starting at 9AM, and then into eliminations!

BIGFOOT has been found! Ernie Humes made his second Loose Rocker victory the biggest one yet, collecting the $40K Eagle trophy and Big Check for the 2nd Annual ATI BIGFOOT $40K presented by Summit Racing Equipment. Kelly Stevens turned it .005 red in the finals.

In the semis, Humes defeated Bobby Mattera, while Stevens took the bye to the finals. The quarterfinalists were Seth Phillips and John Binkle.

The Saturday $3K Gamblers race at the ATI BIGFOOT $40K presented by Summit continued the brutal level of competition on display throughout the event. In the semifinals, Edmond Ellison used a perfect light to trailer NHRA Sportsman National Champion Brian Hendrickson, and Nick Hastings used a .003 dead 9 to just edge out Kevin Pollard's .003, .01-above. In the finals, Ellison turned it red to allow Hastings to pick up another Big Check.

Racing resumes Sunday morning with the $10K Finale. New Entry Only Time Trial at 10am, followed by eliminations.

The 2nd Annual ATI Performance Products BIGFOOT $40K weekend came to a close with the $10K Finale. Former Fall Footbrake Frenzy 5K winner Jesse Betterton raised the bar with his second Loose Rocker victory, for $10,000. Betterton defeated multi-time Loose Rocker winner Richard Alford, Jr in the finals.

Former Fall Footbrake Frenzy $20K Champ Denny Maclosky wheeled Dave Stebner's Duster to the semis. Saturday's 40K Champ Ernie Humes and Thursday's 3K Gamblers winner Charlie Lockhart were the quarterfinalists, rounding out the star-studded affair.

I can't lie. I was really pulling for Richard Alford in that final round. However, they are ALL so much better than I am... Smile Congratulations to all the finalists. Heck, congratulations to anyone who advanced past the second round! Eek Take care. Tom Worthington

If it seems that bracket racing has gotten too expensive for you, maybe you are just doing it wrong.

A hearty thank you to all of the racers who supported the 2nd Annual ATI BIGFOOT $40K presented by Summit Racing Equipment. Despite the calls for "90%" chance of rain on Friday, we had four days of absolutely gorgeous weather, a great bunch of racers, fast-paced, smooth, and FUN racing each day, and perhaps the most staggering level of competition ever witnessed in Footbrake racing.

Congratulations to each of our champions:
THURSDAY
$5K Legendary 64 Shootout: Charlie Lockhart over Adam Vanderslice
FRIDAY
$10K Warmup Main Event: Steve Vancraeynest over Tony Mattera
$3K Gamblers: ($5,300 was split at 7 cars due to statewide power outages among Anthony Fetch, Seth Phillips, Ernie Humes, Bob Mullaney, Dave Harvey, Caleb Ellison, and the bye car Nick Hastings)
SATURDAY
$40K BIGFOOT Main Event: Ernie Humes over Kelly Stevens
$3K Gamblers: Nick Hastings over Edmond Ellison
SUNDAY
$10K Finale Main Event: Jesse Betterton over Richard Alford, Jr.

Everybody won with the Racer Appreciation Dinner!

Putting an exclamation point on the absolutely incredible competition, not one, but TWO drivers laid down a PERFECT RUN this past weekend: Ernie Humes and Robert Benge, Jr. There have been an unbelievable FOUR perfect runs already at Loose Rocker events this year, counting the performances of Jose Diaz and Chad Duke at the House of Payne St. Patrick's Classic in March. You guys rock! Congratulations.

We had great support from our fellow racer/promoters, with free weekend entries given away to FIVE events! Three of them were reserved for the Top 3 Best Packages of the Weekend:

#1 - Robert Benge, Jr. (.000) - Door Wars: A Footbrake Experience, Triple 10's at Maple Grove Raceway, October 4-6, 2019, promoted by Andy Anderson and Shane Sweigart

#2 - Ernie Humes (.000) - Jim Harrington Bracket Nationals, Twin $7K's at Cecil County Dragway, August 10-11, 2019, promoted by Anthony Fetch and Jeff Pasquariello, Jr.

#3 - Bobby Mattera (.003) - Twin 75 Hundos @ Empire Dragway, June 14-16, 2019, promoted by John Cira

The Round 4 Best Losing Package in Saturday's $40K Main Event went to Josh Green, who earned a weekend entry to the World Footbrake Challenge Triple 10's at Bristol Dragway, July 4-7, 2019, promoted by Steve Stites and Jared Pennington.

Loose Rocker also awarded a Hard Luck Award weekend entry to the ATI Fall Footbrake Frenzy, 10K-20K-10K at Piedmont Dragway, Nov. 29-Dec 1, to Jerry Cline.
