I just hope the weather is good for Topeka. I had pretty much decided not to go to Tulsa anyway. The weather just did not look good. Big Steve, bring that thing to Denver the weekend after Topeka. Clowns to the left of me, Jokers to the right. Here I am.......

Probably the right move. The pits are flooded and the river is so high the WW2 submarine on display is floating It would have been a parking disaster rivaling Noble several years ago

The new date for Tulsa is the week after Topeka double which is the same date for the MWPMS TD race in SL. I cant believe Tulsa put a race on top of the owner Keith Haney's race.I am trying to run NHRA and the Midwest series but they keep putting events on top of each other which kills the TD/TS car count. The midwest race at XRP was moved 1 week because some were whining about racing on the July 4th weekend, its now the same weekend as the D4 race in Noble 150 miles away which will kill the car count. I wasn't going to Noble anyway because it has become a S Hole track but it still sucks Just to many races too close together for a guy like me who has to plan ahead for days off of work......I had my schedule set now its all out the window

Sounds like the typical "the points have created panic in my program" scenario. Been there...no more. Would yall try to run Memphis this weekend with some REAL money on the table? 10 laps a day single entered can create a pay day you will never see in TD. Fast consistent cars can win bracket races and 3 second bracket cars are way cool! Big Money racing you can pick and choose when you race based upon your choices when you want to race... not points obligations and scheduling issues. Just some random thoughts that would give yall an opportunity to race this weekend and other weekends if ya wanted to. ..seems the NHRA has no real rewards to win to offer. I wont mention a divisional race in Tulsa is not practical to begin with as the facility cant handle the turnouts with less than practical pits when it has rained or could rain again. Same for Noble...JMO Headed to Memphis today myself.

^^^^^ You are smart and we are still dumb! And that's the freakin truth. I keep wondering myself why I go. Mostly to see friends and I would like to someday win a Wally. However, I've been doing a lot of soul searching lately and may start doing what you're doing sooner than later. Good luck in Memphis! Clowns to the left of me, Jokers to the right. Here I am.......

I am having more fun racing TD than I ever did running big money bracket races. To each his own, we all have choices BTW Chris, I won the the Midwest TD race 2 weeks ago in Tulsa, 4 rounds and paid $3k plus some contingency money. How much money will a big money bracket race pay for 4 winlights? I lost at 7th round in one a couple of years back and got $125 bucks, all the money is on top, that's the problem with them IMO. But again we all have our choices to race what we enjoyThis message has been edited. Last edited by: Big Steve,

I don't dig on seafood, therefore I don't frequent seafood restaurants. If there is no other choice, I just find something I can tolerate. I'm performance based having spent decades in the nitro and alcohol trenches. When I finally got around to putting my own program together I wanted a blown alcohol car. When the MWPMS decided to run T/D I was, and still am thrilled about it. Finally a place I can wring the old girls neck if I choose, and I will, and not have to choke it down. PDRA is not an option for me due to the distance. Everyone has different reasons for doing what they do. Mine are right for me. So when everyone comes back to my hometown for the make up date, I'll be in St. Louis.

Steve, congrats to ya, my brother was there with their $150K plus TS and he won as well...they cut the purse and he won $1,500.00. Because only 8 cars and 3 rounds... SIMPLY not worth the time of going IMO as expenses to Tulsa from Houston and cost of running the car adds up. Bob, Performance based is heads up...more notable, fields barely get filled at 32 cars. Paying peanuts in rewards as LOOK at your investment spent. Its your money you can spend it how you like. Guys 5 rounds put you in the middle of 3rd round double teched...make 17 laps in one day with no time trials...that's alot of fun to race your car that much! WIN $20 grand in one day of racing your car 17 times...its a BLAST. Hell Houston Raceway Park pays $2,500.00 on regular points bracket weekends. Purdy impressive IMO. Yes we all have choices...I like to race the crap out of my cars and when we win it's an actual reward. Again JMO. Have fun no matter guys.

I agree with you, but look at the options available. Top Fuel (7 figures) Top Alcohol (6 figures), the yearly certifications alone drive a $5X,XXX.XX a year guy with a mortgage out. Danny Nelson is trying to put a quick heads up program to be run with the MWPMS, and I'm pretty excited about that. I do have a funny car chassis in the rafters. I could sell the dragster, but even though it is a very nice car, it is a 260" hard tail. There is a very slim market for such a car. I'd practically have to give it away. I know, that's how I got it.

Funny cars in the rafters...HELL YEa love the sound of it. I got 900 inch motors with 3 kits on them laying around if you know anyone interested.

Don't want to come across as whining. That's certainly not the case. I love brackets, I love heads up. Just amazed at the lack of choices when you own a rear motored dragster. I've been fortunate enough to have my tail kicked by some of the best in the business. J.R. Baxter, Lynn Ellison, etc. etc. etc. And I'll keep coming back for more. But one of these days, when you let your guard down, I'm going trips dead on, and you be at the trailer wondering what just happened.

Gotta brag a second. Had a iron Chevrolet that went 3.8, 5.9 at 270lbs over minimum. Broke the crank last June in Tulsa after going low with an .01. Got my new motor fired this afternoon. An aluminum hemi with BAE 5 Fatheads. Have a little more pep in my step this evening.
