How long is too long?

Nim RodHow long is too long?
I have been accused of taking too long to get prestaged in the past. I don't feel like I take too long frankly. I don't get up there and d!ck around. I do a burnout, open the door to let smoke out, fan it a few times, close it, and roll to the pre-stage beam. I went back and watched some streams of me racing, and on average, it takes me around 41 seconds from the time I start my burnout to the time I prestage. Is that too slow? Sometimes I prestage first, sometimes second, but I pretty much do my routine regardless of how much of a hurry my opponent is in.

GoobPost a link to the videos and time stamps where you appear.
Only way we can judge it.
Short answer, if a the starting line personnel ever have to give you a hint, you're taking too long.

He hasn't posted pics since Aug. even though he wanted to. I highly doubt he'll post a video.
He figured out how to post pics in the link.

LISTEN HERE YOU PINK OLE COMMY MFR! I believe it was WJ when asked about his slow routine and staging duel "I'LL STAGE WHEN I'M READY"
But for real, honestly I don't feel like I take too long. In fact, of the 6 rounds I went back and watched, I actually pre-staged first 2 times without a significant difference in time between the other rounds. Maybe those people are watching to see how long I take and try to pre-stage with me? idk maybe they are just even slower.

Yellow TicketI went back and watched one of mine. 22-25 seconds.
This can vary about a minute depending on what I feel like and/or if I think I can get an advantage by changing anything.

Fair. I'll speed it up a bit if my man rolls up and cuts a light on in a hurry, I don't wanna hang anybody out. But if they drag azs I will too.

inferno camaroI'm from 25 to 40 seconds but I'm never waited on. I can't imagine 40 seconds is something to complain about. With that said I always look over to make sure the other guy is ready before I start rolling in.

CURTIS REEDI do short burnouts and roll right to pre-staged after. It never really bothers me if someone has a slower routine. I just sit and wait on them at an idle but I don't do it to rush anyone. They can take their sweet time and I don't think anything about it.

Yellow TicketI'm mean lets be real, 99% of us are going up, letting go of a button, and are along for the ride until the finish line decision.
If you're find the need to "psych yourself up" because you're having to steer your car, nervous about the speed your're going, or just seeking as much starting line attention as possible, it's important to know, that no one cares.
The other person's routine doesn't bother most of us, because if it does, you're in the wrong drag racing sport.

Curly1I stage relatively quickly. I never play games on starting line and usually do not let it bother me when others play games. I am there to race, I line it up and run it. Really only time I will change my routine is when someone is being a horses tail and goes in and double bulbs the tree I will start pulling in REAL SLOWLY. It is rather rude to go in and double bulb and it gives me full control over the start.
There is one guy I have raced many times and he is notorious for taking forever to start his car, do his burnout and back up then he goes in and double bulbs. I get him every time. Almost like a bye run and he thinks he is tough.
I have more respect for racers who burnout, line it up and run it but kind of think it gives me a little advantage when they take too long. I get relaxed and just concentrate on the tree.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.

I definitely take a few moments after I close the door to take a deep breath. I'm usually trying to calm myself down rather than psych myself up. I need that moment of peace. I am not a machine, I gotta manage my emotions carefully

I am like a machine. But it's a machine from the 60s that is missing a few parts and needs some maintenance.

Bob DenikerGet a roll of racers tape and fix the holes in the car. That should cut the time in half.

Larry ScarthJust for the heck if it I timed the class in Super Comp at Vegas. The average run was 51 seconds. Which includes the 9.05 index. So 100 cars without an oil down is 51 minutes.
When everything is coming your way, your probably in the wrong lane.
