Not call the mill. Just paid the workers more to not go back to work than they make at work.
Now the government directly telling wood mills to do something and them working it to where not or doing benefits the mills, whole different story. Kind of like shutting down a pipe line so that oil has to go by train or not at all. The fact that two major railroads are heavily invested in by Buffet who just so happen to invest in democratic party, has nothng to do with it.
IMO whole deal is to crash the economy(not just wood part). After all the idiot is only in white house so osama can finish his mission.

Here in Oregon after the fires last year, we still have wood on the ground...can't get enough truckers to haul it out of the woods. Once it gets to the mills, they are having trouble finding enough people to run two shifts let alone three. Most are struggling finding someone willing to work 40 hours a week let alone any overtime.

I went in an ice cream store last night and the little girl waiting on me said she was glad people were refusing to work because she was working 12 hours a day 6 days a week because they were 18 people short. Starting pay was $13 but she said she made more than that, even so using the $13 starting pay + the over time she would be making $1144 before taxes. Not bad for a kid working in an ice cream store. This message has been edited. Last edited by: ferndaleflyer,

Just think of the gravity of that statement, what it means for our country. Sure all societies have their laggards but for an entire nation it's the death knell. Easy to get there, hard to recover.

It started a long time ago. No kid gets left behind. Everyone gets a trophy. Can't discipline your child. Push for free college. No advantage to advancement anymore. $15 minimum wage. A constant push from the left towards socialism which has proven not to work. WE are going to hell in a handbasket. Venezuela, hold my beer.

Problem is finding a kid that actually wants to work. Most of them have no clue what work is . Very little ambition either. I have noticed that most raised in country in farm life surrounding do tend to be better. Its sad to see. Makes me glad I don't have a kid to live threw what looks to be writing on the wal for this country. Besides if I had kid in school system now days I would have morning meeting with principle about him or her pointing out how stupid some of these liberal idea pushing teachers are. Heck I would just have to work extra job for private school or so wife could hoe school.

These are popular official stories that serve the current failing system. Kids and poor, is there anyone less represented, easier to blame than kids and homeless people?
Kids don't wanna work
Kids aren't into cars
Kids aren't into drag racing, they're lazy.
Bullchit, kids aren't interested in working the part time minimum wage jobs, ringing up china garbage after going in debt for college degree's. Plus those jobs are staffed by babyboomers anyway.
Who are you gonna hire? An overqualified baby boomer to ring up china garbage, or a young adult who's never had a job?
Kids don't have the ladders of opportunity we had, china kids do. The demand for labor (ladders of opportunity) left for china, right out from under the noses of the American people.
BTW, the current failing system isn't the system designed and brought about by the founding fathers of America, who only helped God found, God's Country.
Before parroting, it would be mighty white of everyone to take a second look at ALL these official stories being force fed to the American people, on a loop in the fake news around the clock 24/7. Which is also there only to serve the current failing system.

Thanks 442! California has mostly silenced all small business here. Workers are making more with handouts so why should they work?
Mike it’s p I s s poor parenting and the phone/internet period! There are still some cool little gear heads out there!!
After reading the article I like to read the comments and I found this quite interesting!;
Its the infestation of the Biden Boring Beetle. Its been observed in the wild destroying everything thats been built in the last four years. It also has trouble with stairs. Scientist refuse to ask it any questions

Just my opinion but when I see loaded rail cars with lumber sitting on sidings for weeks at a time - and Warren Buffet owning many of the RR's, makes me go hmmmmm?????

I don't know enough about lumber to give my opinion on pricing, but I am a project manager at a fabrication/machine shop and I can tell you that the price and availability of steel is getting pretty crazy right now. Our quotes on steel used to be good for 30-60 days, now they are good for 48 hours from most vendors. Availability and lead times have been the biggest issue though.
