NEXUS Motorhome Phantom 33SC
Nexus 33SC

Just for something to do, we went to the RV show today. Got me looking for what is really out there in the Super C category.
Came across this fairly new line of motorhome.
Want to keep it short and affordable.
This looks like a great value.
International chassis
10,000 hitch
ONAN 6000 watt diesel generator
300 HP International V8 6 speed Allison
No airbrakes.
can be purchased factory direct.
MH in above URL is approx $140,000.00

Anybody here on DRR know anything about this motorhome.
I am a little concerned about the 300HP, is it enough? The MH is approx 19,000 GVWR.
we would pull an approx 10-12,000 pound trailer.
A friend here in Texas has a similar unit with a 330HP Cat, total load approx 40,000. Says it works OK in this part of the country.
Any feedback appreciated.

SCDIV1 any thoughts on the 6000 ONAN.

Thanks

Small motor and worthless brakes. Back in the early 80s we bought a new roll back wrecker without air brakes and I nearly got killed because the da mn thing would not slow down let alone stop at highway speed with a load. Sold it and moved on to safer air brakes.

Here is a site with some info about Nexus. I looked at them at an RV show and it was not very good quality. I was told these are the people that used to run Gulfstream motor homes. That stuff was low grade at best.
If you take a test drive you will likely run from it with the Int. engine and no air brakes.

Not likely we are going to do anything.
But I have re-focused and now doing homework on the late model Jayco Seneca on the Freightliner/Cummins package.

22.5 tires
Airbrakes

Seems like a very good package, a bit more money, but likely worth the upgrade.
Still only 10,000 hitch, but would only be pulling a 28 ft trailer.

We sell a lot of Seneca owners the Trailer Toad 3500HD. No stress on the coach frame, floor or sidewalls and the power to weight is good.
Usually the overhang is pretty long and the Toad takes the stress off the coach you just paid good money for.
Call if we can help.

Jok, are you talking about the Seneca built on the GM chassis or the late model Freightliner chassis.
If I end up with the newer model. I was thinking no toad needed.
We had one of the original toads with our thirty foot class A gas motorhome and 28 ft trailer.
It worked well and as advertised, took the load off of the motorhome frame.

The Freightliner chassied Seneca will tow fine without band aids but is underpowered as it only has the Cummins ISB engine. Jayco made a similar model called the Embark from about 2009-2013. It has a 20K hitch and the ISC Cummins. You may want to check those out.

300hp should be fine, but the 660tq seems low. I was thinking my CAT 3126 had 8-900tq. I don't like the 65 gallon fuel tank either. Any diesel mh should be at 100.

Thanks for the replies
If we do anything, I have decided to focus on the JAYCO Seneca with the Freightliner/Cummins 340 HP

Bigger everything.

For now, sticking with the GMC, Vintage 48 LQ. It is what we need, just not all we want, But mostly paid for.

Mike, why not get a class A, everything is bigger and better and they usually come with the ISC or ISX cummins or the bigger CAT motors. All air ride, larger capacity tanks and more room.

Bozman.
We have looked at the Class A's a lot. Nothing wrong there.
Just like the Super C a little better. Only a few Super C's that we like and would fit the budget.

It's just on the radar at this point, not likely to make a change just yet.

Really like the Jayco Seneca, seems like a good value package.

Mike the Onan 6 KW diesel is the smallest diesel they make. It’s not a good unit. 2 cyl Kubota engine, belt driven generator. Far less reliable compared to the 7.5 and 8 KW Onan diesels. They usually have issues by 2-3 thousand hours. I have a number of customers that have them and I’ve done a ton of work on them. I do not recommend them.

This is old post.
We bought a Renegade Valencia
May 2018
It has been an awesome motorhome.
Not one trip to the dealer.
A couple of Freightliner issues, but FL came to the house and did the repairs both times.
Renegade builds a great rig.

I have wondered how those super c's pull compared to pushers. And how much engine noise there is.
