HHmmm.

My Carnac the "Mind Reader" is telling me the price of parts going to California just went UP.

I'm also sure Jegs will spread the cost to the rest of us.

And we wonder why our parts cost so much.
Now that Cali won I wonder how many other states will follow suit for the FREE $$$$.

OH, and I almost forgot something from the GREAT TAX State of Connecticut.
Going after companies to "Rat Out" "Sales Tax" $$$ owed by individuals ordering stuff ONLINE and NOT paying Sales Tax.

Don't most non emission parts state not legal for emission controlled cars in California or something of that nature?

Its like suing the drug manufacture because a parent gives drug to 4 yo,when it says not for consumption for children under 18 years of age.

Question. What can California do if they don't pay them? AFter all they are sanctuary state that doesn't follow federal law why the hell should anyone follow their law?

Welcome to “Moonbeam Land”!

Jeg's is just a new victim in their continuing effort to scam and defraud businesses, (unless you are a Hollywood “Star”..... or own Qualcomm).

They need the money to fund their Sanctuary State status and give preferential treatment to Illegal Immigrants. Marx, Lenin and Bernie must be thrilled, Communism is alive and well in Kalifornia.

Okay, here is my IBE post. In case you don't know what that means it is IN BEFORE ED.

Jeg's broke the law and should be punished. Personally I think they should be fined even more money and that money be sent directly to me in New Jersey so I can afford to buy more parts from them to put on my new COPO Camaro that they also should have to pay for. Actually, they should just have to sponsor me for the next ten years or until I decide to quit racing.

A little tongue in cheek but you get the idea. Just messin with ya Ed!!!

Enforcement is an interesting question. It is state law that they claim is being broken.

The reason Comifornia is only asking for $1.7m, is that they think that is a number that Jegs will pay without fighting it in court. If they had a case, the suit would be much higher.

This happened years ago to Vince & Hines in the motorcycle industry costing them hundreds of thousands. What is really sick is that CARB is not run by the state of Kalifornia, there is and independent contactor out there who goes out and does there investigations as the state , but they get a percentage of the fine on every successful prosecution or fine. A large motorcycle distributor Parts Unlimited also has been caught up in this mess. The list goes on and on , CARB also started a new tactic so they can fine every motorcycle in Kalifornia . They can fine every motorcycle owner, installer and distributer $5000 each in a illegal emissions act . CAT removal or illegal tuner. This just keeps getting worst as time goes on.

The State is a joke. The inmates are running the asylum. Who's to say those parts sold are not for race cars? I have purchased a ton of parts from Jegs that are "not legal for highway use". News flash.... the parts have never seen the highway!

Its just a matter of time that we will need to Smog our race cars in this Commie State.

I need to move..

I’m sure GB is looking for revenue to fund his Brownsville Juction/Hollywood Railway. His high paid scavengers are finding ways to collect money. I sure hope Jegs shoves it up thier azz.

Years ago I attended a California Air Resources Board (CARB) meeting in El Monte, California and was astounded by their blatant arrogance. Although I’ve been away from the business for decades that meeting proved to me that California Engine Builders were getting hosed and unless they bribed the CARB it wasn’t going to change.

The primary question that day was regarding why Foreign Engine Suppliers were allowed to sell Japanese “Take Out” engines that did not meet California Emmission Standards while California Engine Rebuilders were held to CARB’s Emission Standards. The CARB Board arrogantly denied any collusion, even though they WERE taking money from those suppliers. They continued to hold everyone else legally bound to the Law but granted Foreign Engine Suppliers an exemption.

In Japan vehicles were taxed based on age. New cars had zero Registration Fees but as they aged the registration fee was substantially increased. Older vehicle become too expensive to register so owners were incentivized to buy new vehicles and scrap their older cars. The Scrap Yards then removed the engines from the cars and ship them to the United States, primarily California knowing that they did’t conform to State Emission Standards. A little known fact is that the engines installed in vehicles sold in Japan are far different from the engines installed in American sold vehicles.

One more example of the corruption that is pervasive in California Politics. That Ruling caused many Engine Builders to close their shops. Today their are very few Production Engine Re-Builders (PER) in California, the CARB ran them out of business. Bottom line: CARB got wealthy at everyone else’s expense.

Jeg’s is just the latest casualty, there will be more. It’s in their nature, like fish that swim skrewing people is what they do.

Until people on the east & west coast have had enough to take action, i.e. move, they can plan on more of the same, the momentum is too great. Of course inland will just be a temporary measure. The time for people to remain numb, passive and living off the fat of the country has passed. Look at a red/blue county map of the 2016 presidential election if you want a representation of peoples mindset. As long as you live in and pay taxes to liberal states you are asking for what you get.
