trustarts pretty insignificant. Its the principal of it that ticks me off. Every few years lately somebody thinks they know whats best for everybody else and alter what ought not be fuced with. Kind of reminds you of a certain political party right?

So trustart should only be used if there's a Prius and Mini-Cooper racing each other. LOL

I used to be a people person, but people ruined that.

I despise the use of b*ybacks, and never use them. However, I will be darned if that will keep me from bracket racing. My point being that you can dislike some of the rules and still (very much) enjoy the activity.

As for TruStart, I can't get excited about that change, one way or the other. It just doesn't impact me or my approach to bracket racing. Bring it on, as long as it isn't just another reason some track decides they have had enough of trying to accommodate bracket racers and/or bracket racing and moves on to something else. Take care. Tom Worthington

If it seems that bracket racing has gotten too expensive for you, maybe you are just doing it wrong.

Well that's a more direct way of saying exactly what I said is it not? Albeit, your way is kind of dry and lacking any humor but I'm not gonna judge...

Quite a speech from the B guy. He has to be one of the very few guys racing a small block stick car with no rev limiter in super pro just on principle.

I tried my best to not mention this but: True Start may be the name given to this by Kyle and Peter but starting more than 20 years ago and right up until he died this was Steve Taylors idea and mission. And he made the effort, more than once, to promote it to the makers of the equipment, the tracks that use it, and the NHRA and IHRA. Steve Died several years ago and I assume someone needs to take the credit for his idea...and Boucher is right as usual.

Fern has seen a lot of change. I am nearly 78 years old and saw my first official drag race in 1957---Hardly any automatic cars, NO bracket racing, no tree, (flag man), NHRA only game in town. It would take me forever just to list the tracks that I have raced at that are long gone. Today the driver has been removed from the race by electronics. Some will disagree but that's the way I see it----we can't even have a foot brake class, got to have a button!

Sure you can. There's real Footbrake racing at Piedmont, Thanksgiving weekend, as always!

Fern,

I actually have emails that Steve sent to all the tracks, IHRA, NHRA, Drag racing timing equipment owners, and to many drag racers. and friends explaining how the Worst Red Light should be used. I also have their replies...good and Bad.

Interesting Read!!!!

Fern,

You were right. Everything he sent to others is being used exactly how he envisioned and explained in the emails.... The only change is the name of the program.

I like true start, worst red light rule, evens the field, faster cars get cross talk, and leaves on the slower cars light, with more delay in box, should go by the same rules of the slower car.Take cross talk away, then true start should be off as well.

I love TruStart. I see it as no different than worse breakout loses. I hope KRP will use it for some of their events, IHRA will have it for the Sportsman Spectacular at KRP, and votes it in for bracket finals.

I enjoy seeing TruSTART spread the way it has.

From a racer perspective; even if just from the psychological disadvantage of leaving first when you are trying to push the tree.....knowing that the race can be over instantly if you drop it a few thou red makes TruSTART valuable alone IMO. Now you can now push the tree knowing you have a chance if you drop it a few thou red knowing the driver leaving second can turn it deeper red.

I just got word that Division 7 will also be using it at the NHRA ET Finals in 2019 (other Divisions have already used it at the ET Finals in the past; good to see D7 jump on board).

With TruSTART I see it as not being fair for the guy leaving second.
It used to be great. When I left second and saw the guy in the other lane go red I'd shoot for the bye run by hitting the bump down and try to go trip zip.
Now I have to sit and wait and maybe even have to race the guy.
TOTALLY unfair for the guy leaving second.
