NHRA to debut "New" Christmas Tree in Atlanta
F1 has some scary smart people involved in their engineering. Absolutely a marvel to see. The carbon fiber wing deflection in varying loads is crazy clever.

Firebird Raceway here in Boise uses the NHRA tree with the blue stage light circles and has for a couple of years now.

I do not like the new version at all.

For those that remember this on YB. Absolutely hilarious with the shift light.

I don’t understand why so many are up in arms. I’m guessing this is completely invisible to the racer.

Is this the new standard for NHRA tracks now?

Maybe next season?

Unless you block at night. I don't though and don't race national events.

It's just the traveling tree so it effects very few.

They could be handing out free BJ's to the fans and some here would be up in arms about something not being good enough about them.

Bristol always had another tree set up facing the grandstands so the fans could see both sides of the tree. I guess they had to spend all of that money somewhere.

So fans can see the lights from the side.

Bingo! Betting they want the fans to see the lights easier. Pretty simple.. If it was a transmitted signal for the tree I’d say yeah, tree reader but it is not. I’m sure there is an LED reader/ photo cell. It would be tough to disguise. And then there’s the “we arent racing for the million”....

The older I get, the more I think those small track operators who didn't upgrade were smart. No LEDs. No Crosstalk. No TruStart. Nothing that costs money...and doesn't add profit. Take care. Tom Worthington

If it seems that bracket racing has gotten too expensive for you, maybe you are just doing it wrong.

Except for the stagging bulbs I like it.
