Looking for a Tig welder, nothing crazy, just to have when needed. Saw the one JEGs have on sale now. Anyone have one of these or have recommendations.

Everlast 210ext or HF protig 205 would be good options

I bought a Harbor Freight Vulcan 205 a few years ago...with cart and everything else and used it a lot on my car....

Works well for an import machine, zero problems...

Has HF, welds steel or aluminum....AC or DC and has frequency adjust...

I replaced the torch cable with a super flex makes it way easier as the std cable was too stiff...

I was a Miller and Lincoln repair guy for years

I Just could not justify buying one of those for home use....too much $$

There are a lot of cheap made in China machines out there......

If you are on Facebook I would look there first. Saw an Esab mig, tig, stick for $1600 and looks brand new. A Lincoln 185 for $1800. Granted I'm a long way from you so things might be much more expensive where you are but this is the way I would go. JMO I prefer not to buy the Chinese stuff but I'm not downing anyone who does.

I just bought a Primeweld Tig. I'm at the end of my welding abilities/career (can't see well and have the shakes) But this welder has all the bells and whistles and does a good job on aluminum and steel. Reasonably priced and has good reviews.

David, if you have what is known as "essential trimmers" they have meds that can positively impact the shaking.

I used a Prime weld a couple mouths ago at a buddy’s shop and it welds as good as any Miller or Lincoln ive used. I plan on selling my HTP and buying a Prime Weld this winter

I bought a Eastwood 200 amp AC/dc tig welder and have been happy with it

My personal tig at home is an Everlast PowerTig 255EXT water cooled. Awesome welding machine. I think it welds nicer than the Miller or the HTP machines we have at work.

I too couldn't justify $6500+ for a Miller Dynasty vs $2400 for the Everlast. Even the Miller has components from overseas inside.

Update:
I went with the HF Vulcan 205 Tig welder. Got a 25% off coupon and with good reviews from Rich and others I couldn't say no to this welder. Since I am new to TIG welding I took the welder to Dan Page at Dan Page Race cars and had him give it a test spin. He was impressed, especially when welding aluminum! It welded better that his Miller. He said leave it for a week and he would run through all the setting to help me out and get me started. He though the weld pulse option would be worth dialing in for beginners. Since it was a quick test run and that he did not have an easily accessible 220 outlet, we used the 120v power source which limits the AC welding amps to 120 vs 200.

Rich, since I am a rookie to TIG is didn't notice the cable being stiff and mentioned it to Dan, he really didn't have a problem with it. Before I bought the welder I had him look at the spec's and also mentioned the stiff cable comment you made, he said he expected it to be much worse. Now I just have start welding test parts to learn, got all winter to practice! LOL

Just bought a WeldPro. Mig and Tig. been great so far
