Well the new rule does specify that the master shut off can not be located under the wing or parachute mount so there is that

"The electrical power cutoff switch must be placed in such a manner as to give a safety official an unobstructed view of the mechanism from the rear of the vehicle."

Then later refers to it installed on the bumper & that would put it under the wing.

I don't really care because I have no wing, but it's confusing about the parachute also.

My contrasting color sticker is only 2" or 2.5" dia.; I'll have to use the other sticker also.

Relaxing

I think what they mean is directly under the wing where it can fold over and block the switch on a crash. I saw a bunch this past weekend that would not pass the new spec, both just below the wing and also behind the chute mount. I have a wing and my cut off is just above the bumper, The wing could fold over and not block the switch

So is the big red plastic T handle switch prohibited?

Wonder what prompted this. My guess is someone had an issue and the cutoff switch was the cheapest they could find, put in the easiest place they could find to put it.....and it wasn't easily accessible or visible....

Fun, now I have to reconfigure my daughter's car to move the switch, and that's not going to be easy.....What's the NHRA trying to do, chase the sportsman away?

They most certainly are. No longer a JOB... Now an adventure.

I assume you’re talking about turn style OFF switch? The OFF position must be clearly indicated with the word OFF. A minimum 3” circular marking around the switch for turn style switches. The rule change in the initial post should cover ones question.

No thought given to tons of cars with hot wires running from battery to alternator without a disconnect in line lol
