Couldn't agree more..

I primarily use summit as well, for several reasons.
They still offer free shipping with 100.00 purchase unlike Jegs going to 199.00.
If I order before noon my part is delivered the next day with no additional charge.
They are still a major sponsor of the IHRA, and I support anyone who supports them.

By the way Curly, it takes me close to 3 hours to get there...lol

I was building my dragster 3 years ago when they opened up. Now I moved to Weatherford where I am building a house so I am an hour away now. It was nice to be so close I could walk other to get parts if I needed to. But it was expensive, I bought thousands and thousands of dollars of stuff. Doing it again building the new Altered.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.

Boy this is a weird deal.Fortunately,I don't need anything right now,but I have ordered a bunch of stuff from them in the past.
Things happen, but how quickly a company recovers is what should be important.
And judging by social media posts, people are NOT happy.

Imagine the anxiety being their shoes, throughout that type of catastrophe.

Terrible to even consider. Hang tough team JEGS!

I tried for a week to place an order, web site was not working and nobody answer the phone. One ring and it hangs up. Had to get my parts some where else.
Glad they are back up. That must have cost them a fortune.

Not saying JEGS got hacked BUT, hypothetically if any business were hacked, what would you?

Would you meet the ransom demands of hackers?

If it were the only way, would you bend over and pay the ransom?

Just tried calling Jegs a couple of times. The first attempt was a 60 IPM (interrupts per minute)- known in layman's talk as a busy signal. On the second attempt I cut-thru to a Verizon RA trunk (Recorded Announcement) that told me the call could not be completed as dialed. I spent 34 years at VZ - that announcement is normally used for a disconnected line. Either the customer has requested disconnect or the bill was never paid (normally a 60-90 day past-due situation). With the sudden increase in shipping costs, part of which they were now passing on to customers for under $199 purchase and their increased drop-shipping status on a lot of parts I think they either got hit with a ransomware deal or their supply chain broke down. Either could really hit a business hard if their bottomline was slim.

Right now I can't remember the last time I received a full catalog from them and even the last order received didn't have the usual Jegs stickers in the box. That was just a few weeks ago and part of that order was back-ordered. I'm trying to cancel the remaining items but maybe I don't need too?

JEGS phone was up late Sunday. Before that it was the Verizon message you mention.

This fact shoots your theory down in flames.

Anyone of us can be hacked, on the other hand.

I have heard of those ransom attacks on the internet, but I would think a big business like Jeg's would have some computer department guys that would be on it right away before it got out of hand.

They should hire my nephew. You're only as good as the people you surround yourself with.

Just to add to this a little bit - I looked them up on Indeed (headhunter site) and while I understand that percentage wise employees will bash an employer - it appears that Jegs has a lot of issues and problems going on - even one comment dating back to 2019 that the company was losing a huge amount of money, re-investment and updated equipment was being ignored to the point of being a safety hazard in the warehouse. There were also more than a few comments about harassment.

A good ransomware attack is a lot more involved than you might know. And the attacks can vary in strength and type. Being an IT person is one thing but you literally need to be well-versed in network security and very familiar with how these attacks are inserted into your network.

I wouldn't kick a guy when he's down, especially with hearsay from disgruntled x-employee's.

I used to deal with Larry direct, Larry worked at JEGS since it opened. Larry told me the only thing that is expected of employees is to be there on time, in a snow blizzard.

Larry drove a VW bug to make that happen everyday. He said no matter how competent you were pretty much, if you showed up on time, they'd find a spot for you.

And Larry said if you showed up on time, JEGS paid good.

I suppose you are right.
It has been said for many years that the next terror attack on the US will not be like 9/11,but an internet attack.

Actually more accurately, it has been said since 911, the next terrorist attack would be a pandemic.

You're on the mark with that one. The ability to misdirect the population, business owners and government has probably never been at a better level to implement that type of attack.
