We thought that we had put together something really special with this series, but unfortunately, despite everyone's best efforts, the Stone Jug Series has experienced a significant drop in support from event to event. We are running a gamblers race for those who came today. It is with a heavy heart that we announce that the balance of the weekend has been cancelled and the Stone Jug Series ends today.

I guess it's just me, but maybe, just maybe, not every single place wants nor needs big buck bracket racing. Take care. Tom Worthington

If it seems that bracket racing has gotten too expensive for you, maybe you are just doing it wrong.

It's really hard to step into big money racing as a promoter. Especially this time of year when the winter series is about to kick off. The economy is terrible and racers are picking and choosing where to race. Even the fling races had a little over 300 cars that should tell you something right there. It's sad to see this happen but there maybe to many of these races already.

The economy is so bad they raced Bristol WFC, Bristol fling past weekend, the Million this weekend and back to Bristol the weekend after that which is sold out already. And that's only 3 that I know of and I don't follow big money races.

That's exactly it. It's a dead zone there. Unfortunately, we had to find out the hard way. No one will ever take a chance on that region again.

I've been promoting races every year since 2011, with many races over 300 cars, as many as 539 at a doorcar only event, and 591 at an event with two classes. This series was modeled after the OktoberFast event we did last year at Edgewater, which was a new event and new market, which had a very solid start with 260 entries. Location, scheduling and weather will make or break you.

Agreed. Markets have been oversaturated for years, but events kept working. This year, it's finally caught up. It seems like it's primarily the pre-entry megabuck events and "destination races" that are still working. No matter what happens in November, I think we're in this downturn for a good 3-5 years.

In the last race, Roger Spagnuolo defeated Chris VanBaalen. Russ Benish was the semi-finalist in the main event after stopping Nick Bowman in the No-Box final. Nick Bowman commanded the points series championship and earned nearly $3K in prizes for his efforts.

I believe they had to stop taking entries for today's race at the Million at 540 entries.
I believe the Fling at Bristol is sold out. The series is so popular they've expanded as has the WFC which is going to Galot.
Every little track now seems to allow double entries even in points races and has plenty of takers. Big money races don't work everywhere and there is a point of saturation. Many tracks have invested in improvements in the past few years and their racers see less reason to travel.

No. They had 618 entries today. 540 is just what they'd sold on move-in day for today's race.

WFC is not going to GALOT. They took over the Fall Footbrake Frenzy event at Piedmont that I co-promoted from 2011-2022.

I was also told that Thanksgiving races at Piedmont would be handled by WFC promoters, Steve Stites and Jared Pennington

I thought I read at 540 they were done taking entries. I guess it's hard to turn down money when people are throwing it at you.
I see posts on FB people looking to but an entry for the 500k at Bristol.
