Meru neck restraint system

racerdude2054Meru neck restraint system
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=psJbduYVlWEJust thought I would post this here
New neck restraint system that has SFI certification.
Adds in a component of a speed sensitivity hydraulic arm to help reduce concussions in the event of a crash
So a typical neck restraint protects the neck and this is also supposed to protect the brain from concussion
Interesting to see where this goes

Curly1If you watch that turn the volume off so you do not have to listen to that hideous music.
I could see where that may be a good idea and design.

-a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge.
Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.

Curly1Ediot has nothing intelligent to say yet wants to jump in to insult others and ruin another thread.
As if it is any of Ediot's business (it is not) but I wear the Neckgen because I like it best of all those I tried. Do not care if Little Ankle Biting Biotch likes it or not.
I do like to see new innovative ideas and designs that could possibly lead to safer racing. As for Chinese stuff I do not know of anything on any of my race cars that is Chinese. But even so that to is none of your business.

pauleyBrad Smith at Velocita is having a good deal on head and neck restraints if anybody is interested. Don't know that much about them but have seen them and they look nice. Think they are $303.00

AlaskaracerBiggest things I see with this are:
-bulk. It would appear that it's somewhat bulky on the backside of it, and would make it less comfortable to use when seated in the car.
-another part to fail. I do like the concept behind it. Might be what's needed to continue to advance in protection. But I also think it's one more thing to inspect/maintain/and a likely failure point...
Just a couple of thoughts I had after watching the video.

nomadNot opposed to additional safety equipment. A lot of locals use restaints just for regular 1/8 mile bracket racing. I've noticed that they always seems to have help getting into it.
I always race alone in a door car. I won't have help to put one of these on. I always put my helmet on in the car. It's difficult to get in with a helmet on even though I'm a small package and pretty flexible for an old guy. . I can roll out with it on easy though.
I'm slower than 5.00/7.50 and one exceed 150 MPH when 1/4 mile racing. So this may be a non-issue for me. However, if it's something that has to be re-certified on a regular basis, phukkem, I'll just slow down.

It is harder to get helmet on inside the cage with HANS type device some are way worse than others. With one brand I tried you had to put it on before you get in the car and then it was difficult to get belts over top by yourself. And most limit your head movement some making it harder to see other car.
They are designed to make it safer and they do that.
I shopped around and found I like the Necksgen best and I do feel safer with it. Now I also believe in a tight fitting seat and I keep my belts very tight. This new design above looks like a good idea but I will be sticking with what I have for a while.
