Winter Plan ????
Well back to winter. It has been snowing in NC since last night. On TV they are showing plows, covered roads, etc all over. But for some reason not a flake here at my house. Its 11am so we will see what the rest of the day brings. You having fun William?

Fern, I figured y'all would be covered up by now. 2:30pm here in Wilmington and just got our first snowflakes. Semi fat ones and the future radar forecast shows it increasing from here on through the evening. Hopefully before sundown, we'll have enough to make a snowball and throw at the wife. LOL. Mom n Pops house in Jacksonville has a fairly impressive covering on the ground already, according to my cameras.

Well it started at noon and was still snowing at midnight. I have 11in on my back deck this morning. Being in the country means our road will probably get plowed in a week or so. You ok William?

All good over here. Areas all around us got it far more than we did. Measured roughly 10 inches with the tape. Just got home from taking wife & daughter for a snowseeing trip to the beach. Pretty uneventful for it being a "historical" snowfall here. Hope y'all thaw out soon enough. Friend in my old neighborhood in Jax says they got 14 inches. Cameras at mom-n-pops house look pretty impressive.

Decided to try to get to the road. I don't own a 4 wd vehicle so I decided to try the Smart car since the engine is in the back over the drive wheels. My driveway is 600ft long or so and that thing never spun a wheel pushing snow all the way. Pretty impressive. I got back in but the main road is still covered. Will try that later.

Not much off season here in central florida. Missed IRR double, next was rain/froze out. We running this weekend at Bradenton if all goes well.

We did have freezing temps a few nights recently. Nothing that an incandescent bulb between radiator and engine could not control woth cars covered. Birdbaths were skating rinks till 10 am.

Gas is $2.35 a gallon and I can race at a minimum of seven decent, to good tracks, within 125 miles of home. I'll accept the inconvenient weather.

How are you??

Yes it’s shaking right now. Chuck Rayburn lives in Castro Valley and he’s getting them weekly. That’s an hour from here so it’s just a bump here.

Utopia? Lmao that’s funny!

Ground isn't shaking here (Earthquake) always good news, and the temp was 82 at our house today (Tuesday Feb.3rd). Gas is hanging around $4.87 to $4.90 but our electric bill is substantially higher than last year. Even with 26 solar panels and lots of sunshine it's $124. Our daughters bill (Oakley, Ca) last month was $890 (No solar).

Stay warm and dry everyone and watch out for the ice patches, especially on the bridges.

Going to Barona Friday and Saturday to get some data on the new engine combination, hope to get between 6 to 9 runs. Weather forecast is in the mid 70's. Our full season starts on February 21 and 22nd.

My Tuesday surgery got bumped for a transplant operation, so we're re-staged for Friday morning, Lord willing.
Thanks for asking!

So just to add a little more on my winter additions. I did buy the Ultimate Big Dog starter from House of Payne with a 10 pitch gear to go with the 139 tooth flex plate.

I can guarantee you that it spins over every bit as fast as my buddy's engine and he runs a 16v battery. I was shocked the first time I spun it over. If you have a small block and don't really want to worry about 16v battery problems this is the answer. I truly can't imagine how fast it would turn if I did have 16 volts. Shake head

To say I'm a happy camper is an understatement. Next will be one of his 100amp lightening alternators.

If you have room, consider an alternator belt upgrade that allows for less belt tension and no slipping/ squealing.
