I know, this isn't racing related BUT it is going to be my pit vehicle if I can get it going I just purchased a 2019 Vespa 300 GTS for a pit scooter from my neighbor. It was for his sons, they bought it brand new. Well in typical fashion the kid got into trouble so for punishment his father took the keys away. Well the son being a boy tried to hot wire it, he tried to take the knee cover off (which were torx bits which he didn't have so he just broke all the plastic) and ripped the wires out of the back of the ignition switch trying to hot wire it. It didn't work, so he just rolled it down the street and left it in the woods for about a month. I got a new ignition and key for it but now is the BIG problem. There are the four wires that connect to the back of the ignition switch (blue, red, grey, orange). Does anyone know of someone that knows anything about these? I've called MANY Vespa dealers they all said they need to have it in their shop and could cost over $2500 to fix (something to do with Vespa being its own little world. I went online and found some schematics BUT they don't list what color wire goes to what pin on the switch (the pins are numbered). I guess I could just start connecting wires but I don't feel like causing more damage or burning it up. HELP Man was not built to fly ... Frank have you tried any Vespa forums? They have kind of a cult following so if not you might try that route. ____________________________ 2017 and 2018 Osage Casinos Tulsa Raceway Park No-Box Champion 2018 Div4 Goodguys Hammer award winner

How many positions does the key have? Off, key inserted, then how many positions going clockwise?

Logic would dictate that red is positive, but, you can check for positive with a vom or test light. Once you have a positive you can test with a jumper alligator wire and determine where the other wires would go. I would guess one to the start switch, and one to light switch, and being that new one would go to the electronics. Is the plus or bat marked on the switch? If so you could hook the hot wire to it and then determine what position ignition, accesories etc are at.

Orange is 1 Red/Black is 2 Gray is 3 Blue/Black is 4 I found that wiring diagram you got from the Modern Vespa forum. There are two different places (sort of left-central) that reference the Key Switch Contacts. Tony Leonard

Thanks guys. As Curtis mentioned and Lenny pointed out I got the diagram from a Vespa forum. Boy these little things fly, BUT pricing, boy are they proud of them. Man was not built to fly ... That's why he built HEMI's Frank Zeffiro ALIAS -- BIG KAHUNA

That model Vespa is 278cc, has over 20 hp and will do North of 70 mph flat out. Ya that scooter is fast! I bought a 2023 Zuma 125 new last year that replaced a 1985 Honda 150 Elite I had previously. What a Great scooter for the track and will do 60 flat out. 12” tires, FI, water cooled, huge under seat storage, and only 280#.
