I would think anybody that could look at a weather forecast would have made a logical decision.

$$$$$$$$

They already had your money, did you think they'd give it back? They'll find a way to race for all that money, they always do. Hang in there and enjoy the bath.

I hate it for everyone.
Everyone loses, no matter what.

I found it interesting though, that early in the week it was announced that the $50's would not be combined, now at least 2 of them are. Confused
You had to get a $500K entry to come enter the $50's at some point.

goob- No dog in the fight, no bones to pick, extremely sympathetic to all parties, it's out of their control.

goob- these are more "destination events", than bracket races, and that's what they were shooting for. Kudos.
Everyone will walk away smiling.

I think a Hurricane is different then rain in the forecast. You're expecting people to be away from their homes, businesses and families during possible devastation. I've seen many races cancelled for this reason in the South. Maybe Pete didn't consider that.

Either way I hate it for the racers who are locked in to being there. Hope their homes and families are safe.

Well, time and travel expenses will be a loss, but I'm sure there will be a fair result for everyone.

Area all around is in pretty bad shape. I40 has been shut down, flooding in local towns, dam collapse warnings and many bridges and roads destroyed. Plenty in surrounding areas still don't have power. Surprised the track fared as well as it did.
Just saw where I-26 is also still closed because of flooding.

Looks to me that as I type they are finishing the buy back round and the weather is fine today.

So far no rain but it's gone from sun to looking like it will pour and it's done that over and over today.

Congrats to Jack Ostrowsky who defeated young Jake Clayton in the $500k final.

Looks like the weather will hold off on Sunday for the completion of the $100k

I hope all the NC and VA racers were able to safely get home from The Fling. I know the trip from TN has to have been "interesting" with all the flooding and road closure reports I've been seeing. Take care. Tom Worthington

If it seems that bracket racing has gotten too expensive for you, maybe you are just doing it wrong.

There is a bridge out on 26 in Erwin.

Does anyone really think 400 racers would've attended if the hurricane had been predicted to roll right through Bristol? The forecast showed chances of rain, but any promoter would've stayed the course with what was 'forecasted'. The weather shifted with 85% of the crowd on the grounds, from coast to coast. With light at the end of the tunnel, the decision was made to ride it out. Looks like it turned out pretty well.

The storm caused a lot of devastation, and Peter did all he could to do right by those impacted by the hurricane. I talked to some people that had severe damage at their home, and they were happy to be able to race and not be in the middle of the damage.

It was a stressful event for all involved, but it ended as good as it could end. I hope the people and communities that were hit the hardest, are able to recover quickly. It was hard to see the damage to so many areas and hear the stories from friends that were hit hard. I've never seen a hurricane do that much damage so far inland.
