I know Elk Creek is operating, I think Motor Mile isn't. Eastside isn't on the track directory but I don't think the dragstrip is operating. They used to have a funny car show on Easter Sunday.

Motor Mile sitting there dead is a shame. Really nice track that the owner has no interest in running for some reason. Steve Grossclose and Kevin Polard both tried to give it a run but were cut off by the owners. Dam- shame

Motor Mile and Eastside have the problem of being part of a circle track complex. New London was an air strip if I recall that they had to set up and take down every week.

Several tracks I am familiar with also have circle tracks as part of the facility yet both run flawlessly. Some even running at the same time but those owners WANT both to work. Manassas was that way till the Gores sold the whole mess for development. They were going to have both at their new place at Thornburg, VA if they ever get it all finished. Those 2 people I mentioned above proved that run right people will come to that track (Motor Mile)

411 in TN had both, dirt track ended up closing the drag strip. Now the circle track is done too.

No kidding. Tulsa has a dirt track about 300 yards north of the dragstrip and I just pray every race we have that it rains the night of the dirt cars after they are finished to wash everything down. Just driving the pits and your car gets covered. It has effected the strip also but nothing we can do. |
