Good bye NHRA
Well folks Fern is 81 now and still racing. I do keep an up to date NHRA cert on my car but have not raced a NHRA race of any kind in 50 years. But if I race a NHRA track they just might check something. I used to win a lot but as years went on it was less and less and now feel good if I win a couple of rounds. But all of my friends are at the track and I even enjoy the young ones. There are for sure a few jerks but most of those young people are great. I'll have to quit someday and maybe someone will miss me. If not not to worry I'll always have the memories.

Again, the NHRA doesn’t have a gun to anyone’s head, never did. NHRA rules are for everyone, you don’t get to cherry pick which ones you will abide by and you don’t compete in the LODRS for the money, you do it for the most coveted trophy in all of racing, the WALLY and all the glory that comes with it. Tired of hearing this nonsense about how people are quitting due to the NHRA, racers who have been looking for a reason to quit for a long time. Declining Health and old age aside, the TRUTH and the FACTS are quiting racing whether it be class or bracket racing always has to do with the fact that they ain’t winning and/or they have been racing at a level they can’t afford to.

Tired of hearing the nonsense, nobody or DRR has a gun to your head for you to continue in this thread! Wink

So, what's your excuse(s) for quitting old man or attempting to class race? We all know why; you can displace or ignore the subject, doesn't change the fact(s). Razz

Currently at the D4 Motorplex double, pits are packed and I'm guessing 4-500 willing participants this weekend

I wish I had a track within a few hundred miles I could complain about towing to.
My suggestion is stop whining and enjoy it while you have it....

Big Steve…KNOWS!

Early season car counts effected more by the fact that racers are still waiting for parts to get their engines back together not the price of fuel.

What Dave said!

When everything is coming your way, your probably in the wrong lane.

I was in Great Bend last weekend and I can pretty confidently say that race was down 25% from prior years.

In fair reporting, that race was held later in the season when I was there previously, and the D4 attendance may have been affected by this week’s double in Dallas.

Being a double and on the Dallas doorstep helps a great deal. Either way I'm glad to hear good news.

Mostly the ones bytchin never have or will attend a division or national event and are inconsequential at best. Car counts in some classes look really soft at the Rock.

Years ago I attended a few divisional events...I left the NHRA a long time ago...I do not agree with their financial practices on many levels...my choice...the IHRA is around but darn if I know what the heck they are up to...I race locally to keep my seat warm and attend a half dozen big money races a years...works for me...

Translated….I couldn’t afford to class race, I never won a round no mind snifted a Wally so I’ll bad mouth the NHRA because I wasn’t competitive, didn’t have the car nor skills.

Fuzzy,
Pay no attention to what Ed say's. He's just a distractor. You never see his name or car anywhere except on here. He has been banned on most sites. I blocked him so I only see what I want to see.
