Stupid. Some of those guys were not even watching the race they were arm wrestling or holding hands. Plus common sense you should never be in front of a car and inside the guardrails while a car is doing a burnout. Bad enough behind them. I have seen rocks come off tire and very high speed and hurt people. Have seen muffler come off a dragster and got under tire, broke a guys leg.
There have been times when flywheel or flexplate came apart and even times when transbrake broke and car took off backwards.
There was one deal last year where funny car went up in RPM backwards and ran over and killed the guys Grandfather.
Stuff can happen it may be rare but still use some common sense.

One of my pet peeves is this shyt at small tire and no time deals. Idiots standing in lane back to guy coming into Bleachbox and barely stepping aside while he is doing a burnout.Leaving slightly more than car width for him to drive threw.

I had one come up *****ing because backend of FED came around some and about hit him. Me telling him sorry next time I will do better did not seem to make him happier. DO NOT STAND THIER MORON is what I should have said.

Agree stupid track operators to allow it. Guess if renting track out he is not in charge.

Bad thing all of drag racing will be in the headlines when someone or few get killed.Drag Racer kills fans. Will be headline.

Guys,
You are missing the point, it's about $$$$.

NHRA could only DREAM about having crowds like this.
This weekend I watched 2 Divisionals (4 & 7), you could count the number of spectators on one hand for BOTH races. VERY SAD

Like it or not, if the tracks are going to stay open they need these races and crowds. Why do you think more and more tracks are having these types of races?
They want to make $$$$.

Duck has had to limit the attendance at that event numerous times. It's YB come to life.

It's the largest nutswinger convention on Earth.

But how about that crap talking Stevie Fast tho?
I love the guy.

Gambling is driving the spectating.
With a little luck a fella can take home more than the winning driver, and do it in tennis shoes. Wink

THIS.

Test and tune nights are where the money comes from in this area, and it is NOT because a lot of cars show up to run. Take care. Tom Worthington

If it seems that bracket racing has gotten too expensive for you, maybe you are just doing it wrong.

Not going to expound on it but there was an accident with injuries at the Divisional event in Phoenix this last week. Things can happen at any time.

Pay attention folks so you or someone else does not get hurt.

If someone got hurt on the starting line those people can and will sue.

There was one deal I know of where a spectator was Drunk and texting not paying attention. He tripped over front of a dragster not looking where he was going and think he broke his arm. Anyway he sued and got a lot of money. Now the track has someone there specifically to stop cars in staging lanes to let pedestrians cross. We all know when you go into the pits you are responsible for your own safety and to stay away from cars. We know you sign a release saying you can not sue or hold track liable. Yet fact is people do stupid things and still blame it on others.

Tracks have rules for a reason, no extra people down on starting line, no glass bottles and things like that yet some think those rules do not apply to them.

NHRA has rules for a reason. And Insurance has rules or at least expects them to enforce the NHRA rules.

At the Ghetto drags down here if you go to run your car when you come back there may be cars parked in your pit where you can not get it. They have 40 people up on the starting line smoking pot and drinking beer. Now I do not care one bit that they smoke pot but that may not be best place to do it.

There is a video some where at one track where there was a bunch of people up on starting line in front of the car and it got out of control on burnout and hit the wall. People were jumping out of the way and lucky nobody get seriously hurt.

I would hate to see a really bad accident and we lose another good track because of stupid people up on starting line.

Here is what scares me about that particular situation in the video.

The car leaves the line and breaks an axle and hits the wall spinning around and comes back into the crowd.

Disaster waiting to happen!

One thing about the D4 race is they have the largest turnout of spectators than any Divisional in D4 at Belle Rose. That is the only time I see it anymore and I'm talking about the few D3 and D5 races I may attend also. They actually had a very good crowd last weekend.

So, it it being said here that if crowds are not allowed on the starting line, then people won't show up to the race?
What else should people be allowed to do in the name of headcount?
