Needing to help daughter find a new ride. These three are on the current list. Any of you have a preference or list of reasons to avoid. Hoping with end of model year there are some incentives.

We have a gmc Acadia which is the same platform as the enclave. It’s a comfortable vehicle with good power for what it does. It drives good and wife loves it won’t part with it. The problem is it is a maintenance pig. In seven years of owning it’s gone through three water pumps, a/c compressor, condenser, three starters, three batteries and more. Luckily we haven’t yet had the transmission issues or timing chain issues they are known for. I don’t recommend getting one and if I can get rid of this will be happy.

Get the 4Runner. Toyota is top of the list on reliability and resale. Don’t expect much of a deal though. They bring a premium around here. We bought the wife a low mileage ‘22 model in August of ‘23. Cost me a small fortune. LOL She does always get everything known to man on her cars though. She loves it. Not a long enough sample size to say about maintenance but zero problems so far. ____________________________ 2017 and 2018 Osage Casinos Tulsa Raceway Park No-Box Champion 2018 Div4 Goodguys Hammer award winner

Yeah don't get an acadia. Wife has one. I married into it (hers before we married) and I'm here to verify that they are indeed maintenance hungry pigs. And money hungry. Always something with it. We were supposed to go visit friends in NW Florida a couple weeks ago, were planning on taking the acadia. Day before, a heater hose fails and dumps 100% of the coolant out. Overheats immediately. Luckily the engine isn't trashed (at least not yet), $650 later we have a new hose on it. It's been one thing after another. Blend door actuators, a/c problems, motor mounts, transmission issues, uses oil, doesn't really have any power to speak of, and of course the timing chain is next. Being an early one, it's GOING to appen, but before "that" happens, it will be sold. Unfortunately it's not worth much-maybe $3500. Was $40,000 new in 2009. Will not buy another one.

I don’t know if maybe a Passport could be an option but we just got rid of an Accord. Honda has things figured out also. Their CVT is way better than Nissan’s since you mentioned the Pathfinder. ____________________________ 2017 and 2018 Osage Casinos Tulsa Raceway Park No-Box Champion 2018 Div4 Goodguys Hammer award winner

Had a lady friend that had an older Enclave. She lived on a ranch so it saw dirt roads and such. She got the oil changed at the quick lube. No real problems to speak of. I drove it often and it was nice to drive. Illegitimi non carborundum

I think for now she is looking at a 2023 Nissan Pathfinder. Any suggestions on what to look for regarding any trouble with this vehicle?

Nissan front wheel drive cars are always going to be CVT transmissions, and those have many issues, especially if the transmissions are not serviced every 30,000 miles. Jeremiah Hall

Dealers now want to push an Acadia in front of her to consider in lieu of the Avenier Enclave. they push the same drive train 3.6 V6 and trans as Buick. I know some have pointed out problems with Acadia, but dealer says the new body style 2024 has been a better produced model. Any comments on the later models.

A couple of years ago when we took our trip through the national parks out west we had a 2021 Toyota Highlander and absolutely loved it. Roomy, drove smooth, lots of power, damn good fuel mileage for an SUV. Friends of ours have a 2023 and love it as well. We have been satisfied with our '18 Acadia, over 80K miles now, only failure has been the thermostat, which is another whole story. 3.6 chain slapper, AWD SLT2 with moonroof. Do I wish it was a solid axle rear wheel drive, V-8 Impala?? Sure, but that ain't ever happening, so here we are. Comfortable, well laid out, good power, minimal torque steer, and drives well. I don't agree on the Toyota. I have found them to break down just as often as any other brand. They also cost more and cost more to repair. Personally I would buy the GM product. Meziere Tech. Make sure your water pump is on whenever you check your coolant level.

Man, my wife had a 4-Runner when I met her, and I can't fault it too much for reliability, but it was gawdawful under-powered, uncomfortable, cramped, and laid out for something not human, some really dumb stuff. It's the grandkid's field car now. "Despite the high cost of living, it remains popular." Dave Cook N375
