Michael BeardI've noticed that gas prices are where they were 20 years ago. It's a good thing prices are going up. I swore I'd never complain about gas as long as it was under $3/gal. High fuel prices crushed our economy, but low oil prices could be catastrophic in the long term. Besides the threat of China trying to buy up our industries, the artificial government-created demand destruction caused an oversupply to the point where we couldn't even store all of the oil. It costs millions of dollars just to start a well, and if you cut it off, you can't just restart it.

ferndaleflyerDouble edged sword for me. I don't like increasing fuel prices but since I own some oil & gas wells I don't like the low prices at the well. I just had 2 new wells come in in the past month so that gas & oil is going some where and that industry in WV is going wide open.

442OLDSIt always goes up for the "Summer blend".
Plus, if the US dollar weakens, that will cause the price to keep rising.

Information provided on a radio program with a someone in the industry. Was probably a statement directed toward a particular type of well. Fracking? It was awhile ago, couldn't remember that detail.

Mike RietowOil will rise to somewhere above $40 a barrel but only after the last wildcatter or desperate despot pumps its last barrel of unprofitable oil for cash flow now! The chinese in an effort to put pressure on the petro dollar system has turned to Russia for oil, no surprise there both work to undermine the current petro dollar system. The saudi's need $80 a barrel to meet debt obligations. Better to know the devil you've known since 1945, than the devil you don't. The shale industry is done. The last thing the US needs is to lose the Saudi's to china and russian interests. Don't think it couldn't happen.
Paying a little extra at the pump is a way better / safer place to be for the US, playing long.

ferndaleflyer"The shale industry is done"? I just got papers to sign for another well--thats 3 in the last month. You visit South West PA, Ohio, and Western WV and you will see production is wide open. I don't know or care what they do with it but if it "done" why are they still drilling wells?
