RIP. I understand someone got killed yesterday at Milan Dragway. They said a funny car did his burnout and was backing up and car stuck wide open hitting one of his crewmen. Someone posted that is was his Grandfather he hit and killed. Not sure but it is a tragedy. Sad day for the family and another reason to have as few people as possible up near starting line and pay attention when you are there. Sad to hear. One reason I have always kept eyes on car. I see a lot that do not. It no only the driver you have to worry about. No matter which funny car class either well below 1 second 60' no wat driver has time to respond to stop it. This same thing happened at Capitol in MD many years ago. In that case the stands were kind of behind the starting line and the car went into the stands. I think it was Don Nickolson. Sorry for the family in this case | |||

Was just last week a car lost flexplate on and threw shrapnel into another car. Lucky nobody got hurt or killed there. Big Steve is right about all the Dope Smoking idiots on the starting line and when someone gets killed we will all suffer the consequences of their stupidity. Hey guys when they are too stupid to move for guy with injected motor and zoomies rapping the throttle to get them to move. WTH do you do? Me I slammed it to the floor and let the Zoomies talk. yea they move quickly when they realize their butts are about to get run over. Worst part of TNT and NT races is the idiots on starting line having a party. Like I said above this sounds more like a bad accident. I saw the video on this incident on FB. It happened VERY QUICKLY. There were not a lot of people behind the car and this particular person was a crew member, (grandfather) from what I have been hearing. Very tragic and I cant imagine what the driver is feeling at this point, especially if it was his grandfather. Prayers to all involved. | |||

Someone commented that this was the cause. The cause of the accident was a bolt that hold the blower hat to the blower case backed out and got sucked into the blower case where it punched a big hole in the case. Big vacuum leak. I read the same thing. I can see the hole in the case causing it to rev up from being lean and at the same time the mechanical fuel pump also speeds up feeding fuel to the engine causing it to take off like it did. | |||

That is terrible and can only imagine what his family is going through right now. I would like to know more about how it happened in hopes of preventing it in the future. Did not look like throttle blades went wide open and also will not be a Monday Morning quarterback and say something should have been done different. I have an opinion but for this time I will keep it to myself. Everything looked normal until it wasn't.
