Absolutely any Windows laptop you can buy today will run weather/prediction software just fine.

Buy the cheapest windows computer you can find! As long as you only use it for racing, it will be fine

If it were me and I was going to leave it in the trailer, I would get a "mini pc" with Windows 11 and a 24" monitor. Mount the mini pc on the backside of the monitor and then mount in the trailer. You would be out the door for under $350.

I run this combo on my plasma cutter, It's slow to boot, but for simple tasks it works great.

That's a good idea. I think I will change mine around to the set up.

Also what you can look at are Refurb Panasonic CF51/CF53 tough book. There are a ton out there on the bay. Got mine for 389.00 with Win 10. Most are commercial trade ins from LE. Work like a charm.
Mine only had 12 hours on it. Seller was moving these like cattle. 10 star seller too.
Just a thought

I just get a laptop from Costco. Usually pay about $300 or so for one of the cheaper ones..they last about 5-6 years before they start to do funky stuff....

I have an Amazon unit that’s 7 plus years old. Has all my four link, Crew Chief and Racepac programs +!
TD 3550 has been the only person who has kept this thing clean and flawless. Thanks Sam!
Great advise and programs.

One thing that may be a consideration, Windows 10 end of life (support) is Oct 14th 2025. If the computer is air gaped from the internet, no big deal. If it connects to the internet, I wouldn't be getting a new Windows 10 device.

If your laptop/ desktop came loaded with win 10 when you purchased, Microsoft has a free upgrade to win 11. I did this free upgrade in my 4 yr old laptop last year and it works the same as the win 11 in my desktop I built 2 yrs ago. I like 11 better than 10 now. I know others here swear by win 95 and would never change, but new isn’t bad.

Memory ( at least 16 gig of RAM ) and 17 inch screen will make your life easier.

A digital drive is a nice option, much faster response times.
