J178REDBEST PLACE IN TEXAS TO RETIRE TO AND GO RACING
So a friend is getting out of SoCa and wants Texas as his new home. He will be retiring, and wants to buy a nice home with a couple of acres. Also he has a drag bike going high 7s and wants to be close to a few tracks. Texas guys please post some ideas......

TORQINI like South of Dallas, Ft Worth area. Texas Motorplex, Extreme Raceway, both really close, Pine Valley Raceway under 2 hrs, Houston Raceway Park about 3 hrs or so, Ardmore Dragway about 2 hrs. If you don't like Texas you won't be happy anywhere...JMO
It is VERY Hot in the summer months...we race at night most of the summer months.

Larry WoodfinGiven the requirements, and agree with the above reply, I think the Dallas/Ft Worth area is the correct choice.

Curly1I live in Dallas Fort Worth but will soon be retiring and I am moving out to Weatherford area. There are many good tracks with in 2 hour tow. Motorplex, Extreme Raceway, Ardmore, Abilene, Denton and Wichita Falls. Then Noble is only a 3 hour tow from there.
That is nice hilly country, getting a few acres on a hill putting my house and shop there and just going to race and play.

fastracer482I agree that given his parameters the metroplex is his best bet...
Only downside is there are just to dang many people living there! well over six million, and they all get on the highway at the same time.

Roger McGinnisCalipornians are welcome if they leave their leftist thoughts and values at their former address. Don't move to Texas because it's better, then try to change it to the **** hole they came from.

No doubt. I moved "out" of the city 5 years ago and it was really the best move I've ever made, BUT, I keep reading on FB where people keep wanting to bring the "city" into this tiny town. I mean, most of 'em moved to this town to get away from the "city life" then they get bored I guess. 15 minutes to that "city life" yet they can't understand it.
Spend quite a bit of time near DFW for work and I will agree. 6 million people and they all get on the road at the same time. I will say that for the most part traffic moves right along even with that many cars. 4 million cars, 6" apart from each other, going 85 mph. Or that's the way it seems anyway. I hate the traffic. Also DFW is very HOT...one of the hottest parts of the USA, so if your friend is sensitive to 100+ degree heat and 85 at night, it may not be the place for him. BUT...I like Texans for the most part in that they're real down to earth, and most of them are 2nd Amendment supporters. Some folks can't seem to accept that part.

It's like yankees moving to the Southeast because of the lower taxes and better economy, then they get here and vote for the same f___wads who screwed up everything where they just came from.

Curly1I know where there is a really nice place for sale in Corsicana. Right by lake Richland Chambers and about 30 miles from Texas Motorplex and 35 from Xtreme Raceway Park. Show place 34 acres right on main road and has two ponds. House has shop and barn. Private message me if you want more information. I thought about buying it but I am moving to Weatherford.
