Cost of fuel vs I'm done.
All I am going to say, is these Biden fuel prices S U C K. And to h e l l with the democrat state-run news media for covering for him and his band of IDIOTS running this circus, and for constantly lying to the American people. Ok, rant over. Big Grin
Now when are the fuel stations going to raise the authorization limit on card purchases at the pump, high enough so I can fill up my pickup with diesel fuel? Confused
I never thought I would see the day when the pump would hit the max limit and shut off at $125, and I still only have 3/4 of a tank. Mad

It was a helluva con job.

People in here were even saying Trump lost it's time to move on.

The media has complete control over the minds of the American people.

Any explanation given on a loop 24/7 is accepted, no matter how absurd.

It's incredible once you can see it for what it really is.

I only run local races mostly so I have a 140 mile round trip each week to pay for. At 140 miles and 14 mpg I use 10 gallons. 10 @ 3.29 last year 33.00. 10 @ 5.79 this year...$58. If the $25 extra breaks me this year I shouldn't really be racing in the first place. Has to really hurt guys doing the long distance thing however. Everything else going up hurts too but its not enough to make me think about quitting or taking a year off. I am not getting any younger so I am going racing.

The rest of us are all getting a taste of what it is like to live in commiefornia.
Let's hope it is all washed away come November, if not sooner.
In case anyone out there still ain't got a clue, this is NOT because Putin invaded Ukraine. That is just a convenient excuse for the doddering old fool in the white house and his handlers to blame it on.

I am not done by a long shot. I have an account for racing that is fueled by the money I get from my oil & gas leases and so far it is holding up pretty good. BUT I don't understand how fuel can go up so much at the pump and hardly increases at the well.

Lack of refining capacity plus shipping refined product to Europe and South America so demand is higher than supply here.

In response to the original question of this thread, while I was working and had disposable income, I raced all the points races and specialty races in Nevada and went regularly to California and Arizona and occasionally to Utah. After retiring and my play money greatly reduced, I now have to be alot more selective when and where I go. My local track is only 20 miles away, but the old bus pulling my trailer gets 5MPG and I have to go surface streets so its stop and go which affects mileage. At 5MPG for 40 miles at $5.00 per gallon, it costs me $1.00 per mile to get there and back, which is doable, but I cant do it every week in week out anymore. Last year and probably this year I will go out for our two week race the middle of November thru Thanksgiving, which will mean only one round trip for 13 days of racing. Selling out is an option, but the for sale signs arent up yet.

Lucky enough to have half dozen track in 100 mile or less range.

I will say it would be hard to justify driving 200 mile plus to race for 800 to 1000 bucks.Yes theis is not a profit business that we play in. At the same time you have to have a chance to make part of it back. Other wise how are you to justify it to your wife.LOL

The second part of the question is easiest to answer. I'll never sell my Camaro, so that isn't even a consideration.

I just can't imagine a fuel price that would keep me from doing any bracket racing. Maybe $30 per gallon? Probably wouldn't be any tracks open at that point anyhow. Take care. Tom Worthington

If it seems that bracket racing has gotten too expensive for you, maybe you are just doing it wrong.

The price of fuel didn’t seem to affect the turnout for the Fling at Galot. I drove 980 mi one way to get there. Going 350 mi tomorrow for twin $11k’s. Truck burns premium and gets 10-11 mpg towing. $10 a gallon would shorten my traveling distances. I believe these prices will only be temporary. Think we could be in a recession soon.

I'm neither a broke dyck racer or an NHRA hater. Ed your assumptions are both superficial and lack any thought to the original question in my post. If you can't add something positive or insightful to the post then just pass. Your pedestrian comments are without class and you can't even make a cogent argument.
