14 year-old wins $50,000 Race; No longer allowed in competition SFG said “Teenager cashed in big time at SFG Promotions. On Saturday, 14 year-old KC Pesnell won $50,000. So sadly to say KC won't be able to race another SFG event until he turns 16.“ Although there was a discrepancy in his age, rumor is that NHRA got involved and of course social media comments got involved with opinions from around the world. NHRA and local track rules may restrict him from racing at various events. What are your thoughts DC Nation? Our argument is “should everyone be allowed to race even, even at the legal age?“ Let’s not forget, KC will go down in history as the youngest racer to win a $50,000 main event

Wow... I’ve read all the comments.. Some ... , E V E R Y O N E knows the rules and regulations and can plead but it still happened. They’re in place for a reason. I am sure the young man is very talented and can wheel the car however... That’s not all it is...Things happen... Experience.. What would the company that insures the event and track have to say?

I'd rather race with a sober 14 year old than a 40 year old who's licensed and been drinking all day.

Times have changed, I was thrilled at age 14 to get a new 10-speed Schwinn bike, and I think my family had more than most. But that was 40 years ago

Yeah, I'll just have to deal with the stitches. On the track I have safety equipment on. In the lanes my loved ones don't. I see some dude drinking and getting in a race car I am calling an official.

I was reading some comments on facebook regarding this incident, holy shyt !!!!! People have lost their minds on both sides !!!

Yes, is interesting reading FB thread. I was always under impression a drivers license was required for full size car. Something like the 2 year belt rule that is a minimum type requirement for insurance coverage.

I ran a dragbike in early 70's at 12 in New England, could not afford drag car. My oldest Grandson knows this and soon his younger brothers wil harass me too.

Lets not forget that track could be shut down if no insurance.Had this happen to local turkey shoot.Hell bad part the drunk was one of safest one there.Looked like he was painting a barn when shooting but hell gun was loaded only pointing down range.

Track could be shut sown for both under age and a drunk so its loose,loose situation.

the kid wasn't drunk was he? how did a 14 year old racing ,turn into somebody being drunk and racing?

The parents should be penalized. There is NO excuse for this to happen.I don't care if the kid can operate an F22 Raptor on his weekends. WE would ALL suffer the consequences if any 14 year old racer gets hurt, or hurts someone else.
Irresponsible doesn't come close for an adjective. Reckless. Clueless.
The kid should be suspended for one year AFTER he turns 16. That's how you end this BS. It's the only penalty that would have any effect.

I was being sarcastic above with my snitches get stitches comment, lol.

The kid was under age and didn't have the mandated state drivers license or competition license to be driving the car. He has shown he is more than capable of driving and winning in it but it doesn't matter, we have rules for a reason. Do we want to open this up to all 14 years olds? What ET would you draw the line at? 14 year olds are allowed to drive juniors dragsters dialed no faster than 8.90 and they can drive in Junior street dialed no faster than 9.00 with an adult in the car. How in the world can anyone justify him driving a 4.90-5.0 dragster?

KC will be the youngest driver ever to have won a $50k race in a big car. No need to be negative. It’s not the first time someone that age has won but the first time on this level. 1000s of people who race have down down a track before the age of 16.

I agree with that. What bothers me about this whole deal is how some people think it is okay to break rules they do not like. I think the rules apply to all of us. There are some illegal electronic cheating devices do you think it is okay to disregard those rules?

I think we all have a reasonable expectation the guy in the other lane is a licensed driver of his car, not drunk and not cheating. And I think there should be serious consequences if you break those rules. Because people could get hurt or wrecked and it could cost a lot.
