Woodfin's new shop
During construction, I was able to exercise one of my high skills, supervising. Yet now that the shop is mostly finished and I am into moving and sorting and organizing, it is all on me, whew! Tough on the old man!

I have a 5 ton unit in my 40x60 shop, with 1" foam board insulation on the walls and 16" blown in the ceiling. To much area to really get cool, but I can take a 100* day down to 80* or so. Makes it workable. A fan to help circulate air helps a lot as well..

Lookin Good, Larry..

Dave

do you shut it off at night? I found that keeping mine on at 80 or so made the shop cooler by keeping the temp down all the time vs having to cool it down when I needed it.... later I added a 3 ton mini split which helped alot.....

I turn mine off. Then about an hour or two before I go out I turn it on.
I have a smart thermostat and can operate it through wifi.

Shoot JR I'm an old retiree, I can't afford to run it all the time.. Big Grin

For me it wasn’t any cheaper to turn it off at night…. It had to run so hard during the day to catch back up, i used a WiFi thermostat like you and made a program for it

Reason I do what I do is at times it might be a week before I go out to the shop. I see no reason to heat or cool it if it's not being used.
So, what does you programming look like? I'm game to try it as an experiment too see what it would do for me. I would like to keep my junk in an environmentally controlled area.
I've been working towards getting my Avenger back together again after selling the dragster, just don't have the enthusiasm I used to..

Thanks.. I have mine set to 80 all the time, except I only turn it on a couple of hours before I go out.
