He takes nearly one-quarter — 23% — of Republicans surveyed in the new nationwide poll, putting him 10 points ahead of his closest competitor, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who tallied 13%. DNC’s Official Response To GOP Trying To Take Credit For Economy: ‘Hahahahahahahahahahaha’ For six years Republicans have been doom-and-gloom about the American economy under Obama. Abstaining from making any efforts to help, they instead took potshots at Obama’s performance and criticized the White House for killing jobs with liberal policies — and then the economy got a whole lot better and their talking points were blown out of the water. Now, a parade of Republicans are trying to hijack the narrative and take credit for the strengthening economy even though they have zero legitimate reasons to do so. We already reported on Michele Bachmann’s hilarious attempt to claim she was responsible for pushing gas prices down to $2 a gallon, even posing next to a gas station sign with a “V” for victory. And then Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) released this steaming pile of Republican spin: “After so many years of sluggish growth, we’re finally starting to see some economic data that can provide a glimmer of hope; the uptick appears to coincide with the biggest political change of the Obama administration’s long tenure in Washington: the expectation of a new Republican Congress,” McConnell said in a press release. “So this is precisely the right time to advance a positive, pro-growth agenda.” Did you get that? The economy is roaring because people are anticipating the Republican Congress, not because of falling oil prices, a record high stock market, millions of jobs being added to the market, and a huge bump in consumer confidence. No, it’s all just because Americans (who consistently report having next to zero faith in Republicans) can’t wait to see how they do with the economy this time. To which the official Democratic National Committee response was: “Hahahahahahahahahahaha.” Or more specifically: Hahahahahahahahahahaha. That Mitch McConnell is one funny guy. He likes to remind people all the time that he’s not a scientist. Now we know he’s not a mathematician or an economist either. The fact is, under President Obama we’ve had 57 straight months of private sector job growth leading to nearly 11 million jobs added. All Republicans have given us is a government shutdown that cost the economy $24 billion. I get why he wants to take credit for the economic recovery. But maybe he should first do something to help contribute to it. They might also want to point out that some of the strongest gains in economic growth occurred in the third quarter of the fiscal year – before the midterm elections. Any way you cut it, there is no indication that Republicans had anything to do with why the economy is doing better. In fact, many economists (real ones, not politicians who pretend to be) have found that Republican-driven spending cuts during the heart of the recession actually hampered the kinds of improvements America should have seen. Obama and his Democratic colleagues in Congress had to overcome not just the greatest economic collapse since the Great Depression, but a Republican Party that was actively working against America’s best interests.

So the GOP is trying to pass a bill to make a 40 hour work week the "norm" as part of Obamacare...So why do we even need a bill for someone to have a full time job???? Oh wait...if you work full time you don't need government assistance? Jerry Mock
