Environmental Militant Killed by Police at Discovery Channel Headquarters
A radical enviornmentalist who took three hostages at the Discovery Channel headquarters while wearing what police may be explosives was shot and killed by officers, police said.
The gunman, identified as James Lee, was killed by police following four hours of negotiations but the hostages are all safe, said Montgomery County Police Chief J. Thomas Manger.
Manger said the suspect had "metalic canisters" strapped to his chest and back. When Lee was struck by police bullets, one of the canisters "popped." Police have not confirmed if the canisters were a bomb, but Manger said the "device may have gone off" when he was shot.
Manger said police will search the building looking for other potential explosives Lee may have left inside.

Why are alleged atheists so hung up on religion? The word bible is used all the time without any religious connection! MELTDOWN OF THE CLIMATE "CONSENSUS"! The prestigious InterAcademy Council, an independent association of "the best scientists and engineers worldwide" formed in 2000 to give "high-quality advice to international bodies" has finished a thorough review of ipcc practices and found them badly wanting! What does the best evidence tell us? That man-made global warming is a mere hypothesis that has been inflated by exagerations and downright malfeasance fueled by the awarding of fat salaries to any "scientist" that will produce the right "results". The warming "scientific" community, the climategate E-mails reveal, is a tight clique of like-minded "scientists" and bureaucrats who give each other jobs, publish each others papers and conspire to shut out any point of view that threatens their "GRAVY TRAIN"! In the end greivous harm will have been done, not just to individual scientists reputations, but to the once-sterling reputation of science itself. For that we will all suffer!

Climate: New study slashes estimate of icecap loss
PARIS (AFP) – Estimates of the rate of ice loss from Greenland and West Antarctica, one of the most worrying questions in the global warming debate, should be halved, according to Dutch and US scientists.
In the last two years, several teams have estimated Greenland is shedding roughly 230 gigatonnes of ice, or 230 billion tonnes, per year and West Antarctica around 132 gigatonnes annually.
Together, that would account for more than half of the annual three-millimetre (0.2 inch) yearly rise in sea levels, a pace that compares dramatically with 1.8mm (0.07 inches) annually in the early 1960s.
But, according to the new study, published in the September issue of the journal Nature Geoscience, the ice estimates fail to correct for a phenomenon known as glacial isostatic adjustment.
I guess you missed, or simply ignored, that the article I posted was talking about "ARCTIC SEA ICE" extent and thickness, when you posted an article about Greenland and the western Antarctica ice shelf, ice loss.

So wonderful, half the amount is being lost in the two places the article you choose to responded with describes, BFD, that has nothing to do with the arctic sea ice extent and thickness and how fast its being lost.
Further still the amounts that are being talked about in the article you choose to respond with, even if the numbers for the melt are halved, are still stupefyingly large, and in no way discredit global warming as a fact.
What you have done is sort of like saying that because a house is going to take 4 hours to burn down instead of 2 hours, it really isn't on fire.
