Obama administration cuts back oil shale development
Controversy is heating up over an administration plan to drastically reduce the amount of federal lands available for oil shale development in the American West.
The Bush administration had set aside 1.3 million acres for oil shale and tar sands development in Colorado, Utah and Wyoming. The new Bureau of Land Management plan cuts that amount by two-thirds, down to 700,000 acres, a decision that has prompted industry outrage.
President Obama will announce his intention to limit greenhouse gas emissions from existing power plants, increase appliance efficiency standards and promote renewable energy development on public lands in a speech Tuesday outlining his plan to use executive powers to address climate change. Obama to take sweeping action on climate

Obama planning to sidestep Congress for next phase in climate change agenda
President Obama will announce Tuesday he is planning to sidestep Congress to implement a national plan to combat climate change that will include the first-ever federal regulations on carbon dioxide emitted by existing power plants, despite adamant opposition from Republicans and some energy producers.

Barack Obama to cut emissions in vow to save planet Barack Obama today unveiled the most ambitious plan to counter climate change ever put forward by a US president, saying he would not condemn future generations “to a planet that is beyond fixing”. save planet
War on Coal Is Exactly What's Needed' Obama’s plan will crack down on emissions even further, give $8 billion in taxpayer money to fund loan guarantees for energy projects, and allocate $7 billion to finance foreign climate mitigation and adaptation projects, reports The Times. War on Coal

OH, but there is no consensus among scientists?
Wrong!
In a peer reviewed paper published on 15 May 2013 in IOP Science, entitled “Quantifying the consensus on anthropogenic global warming in the scientific literature” that sought to determine if there is or is not a consensus on anthropogenic global warming (AGW), we find that of the nearly 12000 papers written and published in peer reviewed science journals between 1991 and 2011, and of those expressing an explicit opinion on AGW, 97.1% agree that climate change and or global warming is occurring and is caused by man, while only 0.7% explicitly disagree.
That, my dear boobies, is the definition of consensus.
You know we have had a war on drugs, and a war on poverty, a war on terror and likely wars on a bunch of other things I can’t even begin to name at this moment. But let’s hope the “war on coal” goes a good bit better than the ones I’ve mentioned above. Then if we win this one, maybe then we can then have a nationwide war on ignorance and stupidity, you know, sort of like the little insurgency a few are trying to run around these parts.

Yea, let Canada sell their oil to China and polute the worlds atmosphere but Oblamer said we'll be okay????? I guess he hasn't seen any pictures of the Chinese people wearing dust masks so they can breathe !!! Maybe Oblamer needs to go to El Paso, Texas and look at the visible difference in the air between the U.S and Mexico! Maybe, we need to build a wall high enough to keep the smog out of America as well as the aliens This message has been edited. Last edited by: Jerry Mock,

I'm not sure which point you are trying to make. That coal burnt anywhere is bad? That coal burnt somewhere else is bad? That we would be wearing dust masks if more were burnt here? I'm trying to follow you...really.

Larry, do you think Chinese and Indians give a shyt about CO2 emissions, or seemingly any emissions for that matter?
Also, I'm pretty sure we are more environmentally conscious that the rest of the world. All we are doing is destroying our industries, placing undue strain economically on our own citizens and all the while not really saving the planet from anything.

Exactly! Do you think they destoryed all the R-12 freon producing capacity when it was outlawed here? They simply shipped it overseas where it is still in use. We are our own little cell of stupidity.

“China launched its first pilot carbon emissions exchange on Tuesday, though plans for a nationwide rollout and efforts to apply the scheme to some polluting heavy industries could be undermined by a slowdown in the world's No.2 economy.”
"It is a very big concern for Beijing and for local governments - how to strike a balance between controlling emissions and maintaining economic growth especially amid a general slowdown in the economy," said Shawn He, lawyer and carbon specialist at the Hualian legal practice in Beijing.
That is more than we can say about the US, now isn’t it. But it’s all a big hoax anyhow, now isn’t it?

China Emission Trading Experiment Unlikely to Ease Cities’ Smog..............
“The NDRC’s measure of success of the pilots is primarily focused on technical aspects of setting up the system, whilst the importance of an active trading environment has not been given as much importance,” Cerne said by telephone. “Because of unresolved design and regulatory issues, I don’t expect that there will be real trading in the pilots other than annual compliance and government influenced transactions.”
