I too, hated English. Saw no need in knowing anything about it. However, in my later life, what little I learned has sure come in handy. English is a little boring, I will admit. The reading and writing skills are it's true value to me, along with some vocabulary is nice. Myself, I would have quit high school if I could not go to drawing and wood shop class. We had no automotive class, and I did not take Ag as you could not take shop and Ag. I credit my shop teacher as being the single most important person in my life that helped me become a productive citizen. He would not let us take shop unless we had at least a "C" average in ALL other classes. I learned a lot from that man, and have made a living basically from what I learned in his classes. When I went to college (the same college that my shop teacher graduated from) when a professor in the Industrial Education Department found out I was one of Mr. Williams's students, it was basically a free pass. They knew I knew. We did more sophisticated things in high school than in some college classes. I was going to be a teacher, but Unc Sam called, and away I go. Changed direction after that. I did not ask for a college deferment, BTW. I was not a good English student in High School (made C's), but when I went to college, I made "A" on all four required English courses. Go figure. Teaching is a tough deal. Be kind to teachers. 99% of them are the real deal and dedicated. _____________________________ Wes Scott

Teachers. I'm in my early sixties now so my outlook on life is not as server as it once was. So here goes. I do not remember one, not one of my teachers in my entire grade school career that was worth a darn or that I respected. Teachers gained the right of collective bargaining when I was a senior. They immediately went on strike and I learned then it was about them and not me. My parents were very active in my schools. I was punished to a degree for being up to snuff. My dad was big on behaving in school. Bad behavior, a$$ beating. Plus, I was a little guy so I fought a lot. Now my kids were another story. They had some good teachers. And they had some of the worthless ones I had. We were active in the kids education and made it known a swat in the classroom was acceptable if needed. Our schools took a dump when they built low income housing in that city. Then our school district took over the remnants of a minority run district that was run into the ground. Parents have so much to do with a kids education short of doing the kids homework. Parents today don't get that. They're too busy wussifying the kid. nomad Bruce Guertin Easily distracted by bright shiny objects. Wife says I'm a new adventure every day. Dayton, That isn't democracy, look at what it is, looks just like 30 years ago when Mubark, a general, took the military, overthrew the gov and it was a dictatorship. Yep, started by stateing it was for the people but look how it ended up? Democray is level playing field for everyone, voting, etc.. OK, so now Mubarak is heading out, and the military stated that the demonstrations would stop immediatly or they were going to stop them. Doesn't sound like Democracy yet. Remember, your boys are the ones out of touch, Biden stating that Mubarak wasn't a dictator, Obamer stating that the Egyptian governement was stable, and just today the head of the Defense intelligence agency stated that the Muslim brotherhood was a secular group and non-violent in Egypt. Anyone can go read their charter on their website, they are the originators of the Taliban and Al Queda, they have stated that they want to wipe Isreal off the map, kill anyone that is not devoute muslim and they are willing to die for their cause. Yep, those dems in office are really doing well for themselves, and that is just in the last two weeks. By the way, we didn't overthrow our government by having someone in British military over-throw the king of England and take the country as his own. Not even a close comparison. here i'll use YOUR WMD LOGIC here. what other country wasnt taken completly by surprise that a google exec would start a rally and it would turn out like this? psst this just in the muslim brotherhood you refer to said that they would not bring forward a candidate in the elections. want to know why? a pechtner poll of egyptians says 55 percent of the population DOES NOT support the brotherhood. 33 percent are unsure. and ONLY 15 PERCENT support them. so you say this isnt about democracy?REALLY? how come the most popular guy in egypt is a google exec? and is your last paragraph for real? does it have to follow the same EXACT path we took against england? seriously? i beleive our founding fathers would have used any means nessary!dont you???? yea that would include "someone in british military over-throw the king of england"

Obama Ramps Up Rhetoric Against Mubarak WASHINGTON — Bristling with impatience, President Barack Obama on Thursday openly and sharply questioned whether Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak's pledge to shift power to his vice president is an "immediate, meaningful or sufficient" sign of reform for a country in upheaval. The proceedings in Egypt have been orchestrated by the muslim jihaists just as the anti Viet Nam war protests were designed by the communists in this country! "imam" had his chance to promote democracy in Iran a couple of years ago and he sat on his hands and said ZILCH! There are still people in Iran that recall they had a westernized capitalist system and a high standard of living before peanut jimmy doomed them back to the 7th century! There isn't anybody alive in Egypt that ever lived under a democracy there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TAKE IT TO THE BANK!!!!! Later, Bill Koski

DNI James Clapper: Muslim Brotherhood "Largely Secular," "Has Eschewed Violence" "The term Muslim Brotherhood is an umbrella term for a variety of movements. In the case of Egypt, a very heterogeneous group, largely secular, which has eschewed violence and has decried al-Qaeda as a perversion of Islam," Director of National Intelligence James Clapper told a congressional hearing today. UPDATE: Jamie Smith, director of the office of public affairs for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence later said in a statement to ABC News: “To clarify Director Clapper’s point - in Egypt the Muslim Brotherhood makes efforts to work through a political system that has been, under Mubarak’s rule, one that is largely secular in its orientation – he is well aware that the Muslim Brotherhood is not a secular organization.” Gene Simmons Military Tribute Zell/Granny 2012 Send Your Thanks To the U.S.Military Post a Message to our Soldiers Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most Grandpa Bob Professional Fence Hanger / Spectator Former Crew Chief Grandma's Rocking Chair

Dayton, I guess you haven't seen what is going on. You still can't articulate how a military cuop is the same as what the original setllers did to gain their freedom. You screamed about Democracy adn it isn't there yet. You flipfloped on your sides there Dayton. The muslim brotherhood is there, they are the largest and most well organized group there. Might only be 25-30% of the population but that is all it takes when there are over 15 sects in Egypt. Remember, they do not have to have more than 50% of the vote, there aren't just 2 parties there. If there wasn't an issue then why would all of the intelligence and military folks in the US truely worried (other than the idiot that said they were a secular group that has renounced violence). I am all for their democracy, it is a huge concern on what can happen there. It can go either way. I hope the rest of the Arab world can see a democracy in Egypt and it moves through the region. Amazingly we haven't heard from the other 82.5 million people in Egypt, I hope they have the same fortitude for freedom. I would not doubt that there will be some terrorist attacks in Egypt. The secular fighting will start sometime but hopefully it will be very small in nature. Hamas and Hezbola are already there and have been working since at least the 4th day of the protest, this is very disconcerning. The issue isn't that they want freedom, most coups or regime changes have always had someone leading it, this is just the people. They do not have a leader, this means whoever is the most organized has a huge upper hand right now. That is the Muslim Brotherhood. Teh one great thing going for everyone is that the Field Marshall that is in charge of the military right now despises them and is a great allie to the US. boz i really enjoy talking politics with you and you have had an impact on things i think about. with that said,i'm not following your first paragraph? maybe i wasnt clear. the point i was making was i dont see the people of egypts cry for freedom any different than our own cry for freedom from the king. and i understand and agree with every thing else you've said except for your numbers on the brotherhood. i havent talked much about the military. i can throw a rock and hit wright-patterson air force base from my shop. because i build custom harleys i've had alot of interaction with egyptian pilots.as well as every other country we train. i too fear a military coup but my instincts tell me the people wont have it. and i think a WAY underplayed influence on the military IS the high degree of PROFESSIONALISM that the military has shown through this and I THINK the credit for that is OUR MILITARY. and maybe that 1.3 billion we support them with.haha let us not forget big government doesnt run the world big business does! so i believe between the power of the people and the professionalism of the military it will all work out. come on guys take the time the next time your in a gas station and the guy behind the counter you know is an arab and ask him about his life. you might find out he and his family want to enjoy the sames things you do. maybe your not so different? and i believe that MOST young people all around the world want what we enjoy. and to think we once used our military to stop the rise of communism. who ever would of thought the stamp of change in the world would have "made in the u.s.a." on it,and its sword is the internet, cell phones, google, twitter etc. WE AS AMERICANS SHOULD BE PROUD THIS IS REAL HISTORY MAKING STUFF BOYS !!!!
