Notes- Kathy Gallo is a competitor in the track’s regular bracket program. She was eliminated in the first round of the bracket race. Because there was not a full field for the Pro Mod show she and her husband Orrie decided to try their hand at heads-up racing. Before they got in Orrie went to a couple of the Pro Mod guys and asked how they felt about the Gallo’s filling an empty spot in the field when their car was clearly not competitive with the numbers the other cars were capable of. The other teams were more than happy to see them fill out the field. I’m sure most of you are aware of the difficulties of running a car set up for a .500 handicap tree in a .400 pro tree race. Kathy did her best, but her RT’s weren’t very competitive. Fortunately for her Ray Schuler went .002 red in the first round. Their fairy tale came to an end in the semifinals when they came up against Chip Forman. All told, Kathy and Orrie were very happy with their first foray into heads-up racing. After the race at least four different people were offering to sell them an engine to step up their program to run with the Pro Mods.
Chip Forman picked up where he left off last year. Chip won the first four races in the Pittsburgh Pro Mod series last year and drove his way to a win in the first race of 2011.
This was the first time we saw John Camp racing in this series. He told me they were really just shaking the car down and they managed a couple of 4.32’s in qualifying and a 4.29 in the first round. Pretty good first showing.
John and Brian Vergotz tagged the back of the field every round to make test runs. Every run they kept going further down track before John had to lift. Pretty soon that car is going to make a full pass and it will be fast again.

Chuck - you are on fire this year! Way to go! Also - way to go on NOT getting ripped off on the Buy Back Round Money!! Winning is the Best Revenge....

Dale GreenawaldWhat was up with buy backs? I bought back, and lost 4th round. Went to the payout window and was told no round money for buy backs. That really sucks. Is it going to be like that every week or just for that race. If it's every week, why would anyone buy back.
May 30, 2011, 09:11 AM
Dave KielFrom what I heard, no round money for buy backs all year.
May 30, 2011, 09:29 AM
green1Dale had issue with the track a few years ago about that when they didn't inform anybody that wasn't at the meeting about the change. I thought they learned their lesson then to post those type of things on their website and to also inform racers at the gate. Guess not.

Pro 301gCongrats to Josh on the double, (7thous package omg) and Scotty on the big win.. But most of all Chuck (the man) gets it done in the money round. Great driving! Was nice to see some of the gr8 racers at PGH doing some incredible driving.. Very impressive at the end. Josie had a blast at Nikki's playground!!

jeffrey10x2i didnt hear anything about no round money for buy back racers until i red it here.
something tells me that the buy back window wont be as busy anymore. saw some was even turned away from getting a buyback because they didnt have their receipt with them when they went to the gate to get it.
hopefully they reconcider this move.

ChuckTThanks everyone! That $1k was the most I've won yet, and felt awesome. Thanks to PRP for the great payouts. Congrats to my buddy Scotty for just killin' it Sunday! I thought for sure he was winning both... when he lost in Top, he was .001 red, going dead on with a 1. Congrats to Josh Rietscha on the double up, 14 straight rounds in 2 days, awesome! And big time congrats to Jen Whalen on her first win in Street on Saturday. Congrats to Josh Barnett too... runner up Saturday in TCR, winner on Sunday, with the Sunday final against Natalie. She is .008, he's .014. Josh goes dead on with a 3, she dipped just under. These are 15 year olds in daily drivers! How cool is that?
Unfortunately, the Barnetts got some bad news early Monday morning. Theresa, Barry's better half, lost her mom to a heart attack at 4:30am. Prayers go out to them.

Pro 301gA huge thanks to Chris and Don Ikes on the help this weekend. I wouldnt have been able to get my car back together without them... First class racers and people!
