<Mark Romeo>They have began to do the finish grinding. The finish is reported to be "smoot". I can't wait to see it. Hopefully, the traction is there for the first day, thats my only worry. I'm sure they will do everything they need to to have a good racing surface for us on Sat/Sun.

AJ CasiniMark,
I am thinking the same thing you are about traction. But as Steve says, "Hes the master of disaster, the guru of glue, the sultan of stickum". Keith wont let the track be bad.
The weather is looking good too so we should be ready to go.

ChuckTI'm convinced Keith could get us to hook on a goat path in the Hymalayas.
Accuweather is really looking good for the weekend. It better hold... after this week at work, I really need some quarter mile therapy sessions.

<Mark Romeo>Normally I wouldn't be worried, my car hooks all the time. This year I am trying some new things though, I went to the dark side and am now going to be a button racer, sorry about that to the purist footbrake folks. I just want to see if it helps me, have to do what I think will be best for my racing, ya never know though might not work. The car might not like it and I might not like it I guess we will see what happens. I should kill enough of the hit though moving to the 1.76 glide from the 2.52 TH-350 hopefully. Not to mention the 100 some odd horsepower upgrade, lol. Who knows, its all going to be new for me thats for sure.

Triple Nickel IIAsk anyone who works on websites what the 2 worse things are about message boards, they will tell you...
1) Spam Bots
There is a lot of incentive for the porn, male enhancement, etc. folks to get their message on your board.
2) Hacker vunerability
There are a minimal number of message board coders (is PRP using PHPbb?) so everytime an exploit is found it is like shooting fish in a barrel to find thousands of sites to hack.
A quick Google search shows over 16,000 instances of message boards "Hacked by Lance".
Most hosting companies include a free copy of the message board program in their package but don't have much incentive to keep up with the revisions and updates to the base program. Even though the coder may have issued a patch, many websites continue to run the unpatched version not realizing they are vunerable...until this happens.
===
Message boards are fun to use but a royal pain to maintain.
Thanks DRR for all the efforts you put into keeping this one going.

jeffrey10x2wow, , the prp board is empty. does everyone have to re register again?
April 20, 2007, 07:16 AM
Triple Nickel IIDepending on how the "hack" was executed and what kind of regular back-ups were done PRP may have to do a fresh install of the forum (starting from scratch again).
If so, I hope they don't install the same version of the program that was run earlier, otherwise the board is still vunerable to the same hack.

Greg M WE ARE RACINGJust an update on the track. We scrubed and scrubed and scrubed some more, and finally after 3 days of scrubing day and under the lights we are finished. Today we are firing up the jet and putting some heat down and drying up moisture, then we will seal the track with traction compound and tire drag the H E L L out of it then we are going to do it all over again. We will be working into tonight again but we will be ready with the best possible traction that we can make at this point. So I would like to thank the few guys who helped throughout this process and am looking for a super beutiful weekend and
LETS PUT SOME RUBBER DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ChuckTPRP has on the main page that Victor, the web designer, is looking for a more secure forum host. I don't think there's a need to reregister yet, not until the new forum is running, if there will be one. I feel bad for the guys who were on there only, and not over here. I have one email address from one of the guys, but that's it. We were getting some interest from some new racers and answering questions for them.
Thanks to all worked so hard to get the track ready. I'm still not sure if my heap will be there, but I damn sure will be.

AJ CasiniWell how did everybody do today? Did your new combos worl the way you expected them to? Most of you know my story by now. Wiped out 4 lobes on the camshaft. Oh well that happens sometimes.
Started thrashing on it already have the oil out and no big metal flakes just a lot of fine sparklys. I am going to pull the pan tommorow and see what story that tells. Shouldnt be too bad by the look of the oil but will know more when the pan comes off.
Hopefully be back out next weekend but time will tell.

<Mark Romeo>Boy, thats a bummer AJ. Tough break. I wish I knew what was wrong with my car. We put a different converter in it tonight we'll see what it does tomorrow, hopefully it will spool up and run like it supposed to instead of just staying dead the w**** pass. Like you said, time will not.
April 22, 2007, 08:43 AM
ChuckTI'm sorry to hear it too AJ. I hope it works out well for you this week.
Mark, I hop you get it straightened out here today.
Barry, T, and I came back to the Back Alley Speed Shop last night, and thrashed. T got the tranny lines, that I spent hours and hours with no luck attaching, on in minutes. Ripped around this morning, feels good, we'll see what happenes at the track.

Ray WilkinsMark did the converter chacge anything?
April 22, 2007, 09:14 PM
<Mark Romeo>No, it was worse, .4 slower. We found the problem though, someone forgot to check to see whether or not we were getting full throttle, so basically I know what my car will run on 2 and a quarter barrels, lol

. We'll see what she does next weekend with my converter back in.
