Been meaning to start this thread for this year. Sniper Series #1 (1/8th mile): Door cars and footbrakers take the weekend! Friday's race was postponed due to conditions, and the purse rolled into Sunday's. That made it $5K to win on Saturday, and $3500 to win on Sunday. Unfortunately, the 64 car shootout did not fill, and was not held. Saturday, April 21 W – Kevin Romeo, ’79 Camaro, 6.68 dial in, .0270 reaction time, 6.6829 elapsed time, 97.66mph R/U – Mia Tedesco, ’68 Camaro, 6.08 dial in, .0101 reaction time, 6.0762 elapsed time, 109.97mph Mia, driving Uncle Carmen’s beautifully done first generation Camaro (the one he used to drive to the track and park in front of the concession stand), was killer on the tree all day, including a .0000 in the quartfinals, that gave her the bye to the final. Kevin was stellar as well, overcoming tough no box competition all day. Mia has the tree advantage, but Kevin drops anchor, making Mia’s margin at the stripe appear larger than it really was. She breaks out by .0038 to give Kevin another big check at KRP. Sunday, April 22 W – Joe Tharp Jr, ’70 Olds 442, 8.01 dial in, .0013 reaction time, 8.0515 elapsed time, 84.21mph R/U – Jesse Azzato, ’89 Corvette, 5.82 dial in, .0380 reaction time, 5.8550 elapsed time, 114.36mph For the second day in a row, a footbraker takes the big check, as Joe lays down a great light, and withstands the big top end charge from Jesse’s Corvette.
