18* heads
On my 632 18* alky terminator motor I had my heads softened in the quench area. I run 16/1 compression. How much timing can I run safely? Running 28* now. In summer temps how much can I get away with without hurting anything?
Thanks in advance

Advance it 1* at a time and watch the plugs. Only way to tell. If it keeps picking up et and doesn't show detonation, then keep adding. Advancing timing can also lean it slightly so need to watch fuel if you're very close on tune as is. It's no different than any other combo, just a balancing act. Usually you'll see a spread port deal happy around 28-32* depending on chamber size and shape. Softened may like a bit more when run N/A, but again plugs will tell you what it likes..

You didn't answer the question, Dart, Brodix and others make 18 degree BC heads.

Typically with gas these head like 34 degrees but on alky you're likely to need 2 -4 degrees less IMO.

Dart makes the Big Chiefs..
Brodix calls them Big Dukes.

I agree with Mark, advance it 1-2 degrees at a time. The time slip will tell the story, along with the plugs.
