Car is an 1800lb Undercover 225" w/ RM565. Low 4.70's 1.08 60ft. Been using the MT3084 with great success. Love the tire, no shake, hot or cold, deadly. Just my luck MT discontinues this tire. What do I use now? Looks like GY 2533 or Hoosier 18600 are my choices w/ same rollout. Which one do you prefer and why? Opinions? Any other tires I should consider? And who has the best deal right now?

Mike

The Hoosier 18600 is on my hardtail. Mine is not as fast as yours but the majority of the fast dragsters at my track run the 18600 (33.50 x 16.00-15 C07). I was having issues with the wrong Hoosier early in the year and was sold a pair of take offs from a 4.60 dragster. My problem was immediately solved. I purchased another hardtail this year that was running in the mid-high 4's. It has the same tire on it...

Faron at Hoosier also lead me to this tire and compound as the "hardtail tire". As far as I am concerned, he is dead on. I had good luck with Goodyear's on my roadster a few years back but are so sold on the Hoosier hardtail tire, I am afraid the venture off a known working tire.

I recommend the Hoosier 18600. Smiley's/Hoosier Tire Southwest/T-N-T Supercars may be the best in our area. Ask for David Gailey at 877-281-7223. He will deal with you if you ask. Otherwise, Jeg's has them in stock at $326.99 each, no racer discount...

I run the Hoosier 18450s (33x16.5x15)DO6 on my hardtail with no probs. They said the soft side walls were for a hardtail. 4.52@154 1.01 60'

Other than being an MT dealer, why do you prefer this tire? Is it comparable to the old 3084?

Anyone else with a Hardtail tire recommendation? Need to keep 105-106 rollout.

I went from 33x16.5x15 M/T to 33x14.5 G/Y to 33x16.5 Hoosier to 33x17 M/T...I love the M/T in either tire....just all season better tire Period!

What do you think ths tire is doing? More pressure? Less pressure? 1.08 60ft on this pass.

I used to run a GY 14.5-33 and switched to a MT 15-33.5 and the pic looked just like yours. I lost 1 1/2 inches a side on each slicks contact to the ground. Thought that the bigger tire would help me. It didn't. I went back to my GY 1070, 14.5-33 and the footprint got flat again. The way the MT were, I could've run a 13" tire. I used to run a 13-33 GY on our old car. But for bracket racing, I'd rather be a little over tired and under powered. Carried less weight also. I love my Goodyears. Dave

That track has some great hook. You can tell by the way the tire looks, real smooth with the "x" pattern.

You don't have enough rim screws.

Andy I was hoping you would chime in....Is it normal to see the edges of tires pulling off the track like that?

Put more rim screws in it and that will stop your problems.

Rim screws stiffen the sidewall "FACT!". When you are able to stiffen the side wall of the tire you are able to prevent the tread from wadding up which curls the sides up.

A bead lock is the definition of an entire outer and inner rim bead filled with rim screws.

To me, that tire looks like it is on the verge of going into tire shake or it is already shaking.

MDP... if you want to stay with a 15" wheel and a rollout of 105-106 your choices are limited. I do know of someone using the 33x16.5S Hoosier tire on a 4.5-4.6 dragster with good sucess. In GY tires you are looking at the 2118 (33.5x15), the 2534 (33x17) or the 2533 (33x16). I don't have experience with any of those tires though, maybe someone else does?
