Those with a 565 and Dart 345 heads, how much timing do you run??? Alky 1150 APD carb, 14.5 to 1 comp, Dart intake. Been running 35* thinking about trying 38*. What do you think. Heads are NOT CNC'd. 4 Link Dragster @ 1935 lbs. ONLY RUN 1/8th mile.
Thanks in advance

I would try maybe a hotter plug prior to moving the timing yet. Whats the lobe sep and intake duration?

32-38 you'll need to try and find the sweet spot, no 2 motors are the same.

15 to 1 565 with Dart355 CNC heads performs best @ 39 1095 Demon on gas.

Gas and alky don't like the same timing, even the dyno to the track is different... Let the motor tell you what it wants, it's smarter than all of us. From what I have seen alky wants arround 4 degrees less than gas.

Drag 2728 what size cam do you have, how hot of plug and what octane do you use? Your combo is similar to mine and I am just curious. Thank you in advance.

Didnt get to race this weekend, Rained all weekend. Will try next weekend
Thanks All
What plugs do you run with a gas carb on a 565?? Autolite, 3934??
I have Autolite 3932 in it now for Alky.
Going to try a gas carb (1150 Gary Williams) next week to see how the motor likes it.

Similar combo (540 with Dart 345's with Enderle injection) we found 36 degrees was our optimum timing on the dyno. As for plugs, I ran AR3910's for a long time at the recommendation of the engine builder but after fouling one moved to AR3911's. Everything seems fine and I have not fouled one since the switch.

Guess I need to jack up my timing if everyone is picking up .03 by going to 40 degrees.

My 540 with 345's like the timing at 36 with a 1050 on gas. I also retarded it 3 degrees in high gear. not sure if it made any difference as i never ran without the retard hooked up.
