Broke my BTE planetary and was needing a new planetary and my friend said "look on rock auto". Sure enough, they had them, cheaper than anybody else.

There's 3 different levels of durability to take into consideration, pricing.

Extreme, Extreme, Extreme .... Extreme, Extreme.... and regular Extreme.

I had a BTE, bought it from Bill Taylor himself. Never broke it. They're good.

Sonnax good.

TSI good.

3 I know of I've used.

Rock auto is ok till you run into a problem.

They shipped my order to the wrong address and charged me a return fee and the original shipping....

I gave up trying to get ahold of someone to get it taken care of....

I am a dealer for several companies that build/sell planetarys, and hands down, the Sonnax stuff is much better than the 850-1000 planets that are coming from racing shops. It does come at a higher cost, but the sonnax stuff lives much longer.

I think the Sonnax 1.69 in my Nova is a nice unit, but I've had BTE and TSI 1.80 gearsets with thousands and thousands of laps, never broke.

I had a TSI 1.80 in the Powerglide that won the first Radial tire diamond ring with Steve Petty tuning, which is now Radial vs the World. I couldn't tell you how many that had on it, I did the transmission for 10 years, without a gearset failure and they'd do a lot of testing, they'd fly Petty in, rent Bradenton and make 13 test hits one day.

The TSI 1.80 I had in Puddins car did have an axle failure, after a couple hundred passes. The radial tire cars were 3200 lbs back then. TSI sent me a new one for her. Never had a failure in the twin ProCharger car Petty tuned.

The fairly new TSI 1.64 is rated to 2000 hp, I know it's durable, because when TSI say something is rated to 2000 hp, if you were to break it, they give you another no charge- warranty.

To a degree, how you drive has a lot to do with gearset life expectancy, same as every other part in play.

I provide evidence of every claim I make, otherwise it could be considered drivel by the rational people in the room.

That's how rational people communicate - evidence - examples - logical.

The problem with the internet is, the illogical voices are louder than the logical. Same as society at large, the lefty's have taken over no evidence, just emotion - feelings.

By design as males are de-emasculated by TV brainwashing, nutrition, Vaccines and normalized sex changes paid for by the Gov.

So why should we expect anything other than emotion - feelings ruling the day?

That's why you act like a women CURTIS REED. It's acceptable today.

That is basically what my Transmission guy told me.

"Dunning-Kruger Effect"
-a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.

If your intuition was any good, you would not have bent over for all the vaccines you did. So don't play pretend now, you have no intuition.

You're projecting your hurt feelings, it's not hilarious, it's sad.

Put me back on block, you're a disgrace to men. It's sad.

Jeremiah,

What makes the Sonnax stuff better? Quality control, materials, design etc? Not doubting what you stated - just curious
Thanks

Sonnax has been fixing manufactors issues for alot of years now to help them live longer. They use better metals and the design approach is better. Trust me when i say all the others are copying what sonnax does, with much less quality parts. Other places like to use the term "drop in" where as alot of times the sonnax stuff takes modification. The modification that sonnax is making a builder do is alot of the fix, as much as the parts are.

Sonnax is offshore manufactured. There's others made here in the US that have been pounded for years and years.

I have a Sonnax, I like it, but I've liked BTE, TSI as well.

I got it in a fire sale from a heads up racer chomping at the bit for a 1.58 ... $400 with maybe 10-15 laps on it. Couldn't get the money out fast enough.

I had a 180 TSI that broke after less than 2 seasons behind a 1000hp 565 in a bracket dragster. I replaced it with a 180 Sonnax extreme. Ran it 2 more years in the bracket dragster then 3 years behind a 2000 plus HP blown TD without breaking it. Gear set is in my back up trans today after I built a brand new trans.

I built a new transmission & engine for this 4.70 Ray Miller 4 link dragster in 2011, neither ever did fail, both ran together 9 years, who knows how many laps ... hundreds. Same lifters too.

1.80 TSI
