Hey guys just thought i would ask a question if anyone has had the same issue. ic went to the drags on the weekend with my sb/chev and have a 1475cfm terminator set up. it would stumble off the line like it was on a limiter for around 4 seconds then just come alive and go. we did just about everything turned all the limiters off new plugs etc, etc. it was a intermittent problem but would allways do it in the run. i got it back to the workshop pressure tested the pump at the barrel valve it had 25psi@ 5000rpm and noticed pump belt way loose so i tightened it and it went to 70 straight away. has anyone had similarr symtoms with slipping?loose belts.

I had a Terminator and developed a problem a week or two after I first installed it. It was shutting off and not restarting easily. Turned out to be the pulley on the pump was slipping. It had 2 small set screws to lock it on the pump shaft and they were loose. The belt was a cog belt so slipping should not be likely. The pump I had was a 1/4" smooth shaft where the pulley went on. It really should have had a flat on it to allow the set screw to lock it better. Once I tightened the screws it never happened again though.

Are you running a v belt? If running the Ron's notched belt, it's hard to see it so loose it would slip.

I see and point out to many at the track that adjust that belt way too tight. It should be fairly loose when adjusted right. It should never be tight or even taunt..

i guess opinions vary as most guys over here say to run the belt nice and taunt. the drive i was using was actually the wrong size it was off a moroso mandrel drive and would of been spinning the pump slower than it should. i,ve since changed to the rons correct one and the belt it much better. so there is one for anyone don,t use a morroso pulley notched pulley with the rons set up as the belt can get that loose that it will slipp and cause the problem i explained.

If i'm not mistaken the moroso pulley doen't have the right number of teeth for the rons belt. Hum

Hey LX Hatch, my new terminator set up did the same thing to me. Felt just like a rev limiter... Still not sure what caused it as my motor threw a rod on the 6th pass.

I am testing the new motor on the dyno to ensure it doesn't go boom as well...

Let us know if you find what caused the sputtering...

Thanks,

Arnie

hey arnie my problem was caused by a slipping drive belt belt was way to loose as i had the incorrect crank pulley on it.once i put the rons puley on with the correct tension it all went back to normal.why did your engine throw a rod.

never had an issue with the fuel pump but have had a loose belt slip on the vacuum pump and cause very low vacuum on the run. tightening the belt fixed it.
