I used the black rtv silicone in what i call the cheese wiz dispensor. Just becareful when cleaning the oil pan and do your best to keep brake cleaner or parts cleaner fluid from getting on the silcone.

I have a diaper and the glue on heater and so far no problems......but the diaper does not make good contact with the bottom of the oil pan.

Bad idea with silicon. It's insulates so the pad will overheat because it can't conduct the heat to the pan very good. Just get the Steffs on and call it a day.

I laid the heating pad on the oil pan and applied the silicon on the outside edges of the pad by 1/8 inch and spread it over and onto the oil pan, no silicon between the pad and pan.

Many of the heat pad manufacturers supply RTV(silicone seal) with their pads and their instruction sheet states to use the supplied glue(which is RTV)

I have used RTV for 15+ years without ANY problem

I used a nice smear of RTV around the edge on mine as well.

How warm does this get the oil and are you using it just to warm up or to maintain between rounds? I understand the importance of fluid consistantcy and I am trying to learn what is the most consistant way to maintain fluid temp. I like double entering my car because it is much more consistant with warm temps in the fluids.

I only warm the oil before I start the motor for the first time for that day. I also have a FILTERMAG magnet on the side of my oil filter.
