Motorhome slides
who has experience adjusting a Lippert thru frame, electric rack & pinion slide? This is on a Super C motorhome.

When I first got my Super C motorhome, the main slide struggled to come in for about the first 6", now it doesn't it doesn't move more than about an 1" coming in before stopping. There is no issue going out. The issue is getting in/up over this carpet border

I can crank it in by hand for those 6" and then it comes right in. Motor, controller and batteries are all new and the slides don't go out until the coach is leveled. Thinking the vertical adjustment is out of spec.

I have spoken to Lippert who wasn't very helpful on the phone, telling how to adjust vertical and horizontal which I learned from their You Tube videos but the arms in their videos aren't exactly the same as mine. They did assign my issue a case # for future reference. WhatEver

Although I don't have the same MH as you I ran into the same deal, what the videos showed did not match what I had. Talked to a local MH repair shop, he was buried so I took the time to look at the slide deal and figured it out. Mine had teflon pads that the slide road on and they have vertical adjustment bolts. My slide doesn't move up and down either but yours has to have some ramp deal that the slide rides on.

Good luck

May not be related but…. One of my slides was pretty slow to go in or out until recently it stooped. Wasnt the motor cause it was trying to but couldn’t. Come to find out one of my bearings went bad in a roller and locked it up…. After replacing all 4 while i had it out, it goes in and out much easier now…. I plan to check the others over the winter…

I thought of that and it may well be the issue. If the adjustments don’t resolve the issue, I will plan to change all the gear packs before next season.

That said, I just took all the measurements fir the slide/arms off a friends coach that is identical to mine.

My motorhome rental business customer has told me the 2 things he has the most trouble with are SLIDES and generators....

He has a fleet of them and never keeps them more than 2-3 years.....

WHOMP, I will.

Top, I'll check it out.

Thanks

Rich, I'm told even brand new motorhomes have troubles/issues. As a matter of fact, a friend recently took delivery of his one off, custom NRC motorhome built on a Peterbilt chassis. BIG $ and it too had issues and went back to NRC.

Does it change when you have the gen set running, I found that even with fully charged batteries mine works differently with the gen set running or the motor running. I don't know if it is how it is pulling on the drive batteries, when mine is slow I just hit the slave switch for all batteries to be tied together and it works fine. I also found that if you have a lot of extra weight on the slide it doesn't want to go in easy.

Slides always go out/in with generator running and coach leveled.

One thing I was told (haven’t tried yet) was relocating the slide controller closer to the motor and make sure you have #10 power and ground wires. Mines better since i changed the motor and gearing to a slower ratio. I may do the controller move over the winter. But something you may want to look at.

Rich, thanks, I spoke to them last year about a different issue.

Paul, I’ve watched all their videos regarding slides and non address my specific issue or my specific slide arms/adjustments. I’ve also spoken to them several times and they are of no real help.

I’ve found them to be a terrible company putting out terrible products. It seems that the bulk of the RV industry issues start out with their crappy products. Frames, slides, leveling systems etc. When a sub par assembly process starts with sub par parts, you end up with the RV industry. Lmao.

Build quality goes up with units like you have, but they still use Lipperts parts and it seems to be the weak point.
