I have a Moroso 63585 (older version with all black motor) electric water pump that quit last weekend. I had no indication that it had quit except the water temp gauge pegged out after the run. I had an idiot light but I accidentally left the cover on it so I could not see that it was illuminated during the day time. I took the pump apart and it had multiple broken wires on the armature (ohm'ed out and visual). I am not sure what caused this but the first pump lasted about three years and now the second pump has only last two years. I called Moroso and they say the older pumps cannot be repaired and the parts are obsolete. I called electric motor shops and no one rebuilds/rewinds these motors. I have two questions: 1. did I hurt my engine running it with no water pump as it did not blow off any steam and it was only one 1/8 mile pass. 2. Is there a better water pump that will last longer than two years and can be rebuilt/repaired?

Tim

I can answer your very last question. Meziere

I truly have no idea how old my meziere is. I bought it in 2008 used.

Question 1 I doubt you hurt your motor if it didn’t boil over.
#2 spend the coin and buy a Meziere, rebuildable( if it does fail) but the most reliable out there in my opinion. Stay away from CSR unless you want to have to wait months on end for a replacement motor when you need one.

Meziere X 3. 19 years same Meziere pump, never been rebuilt. I believe that qualifies as reliable!

Rebuilt about 350 CSR and maybe 25 Meziere, and Meziere doesn’t run out of parts for months on end.
