I posted a while back about cam profiles for my 582 Im building and got some very helpful info. I stumbled on this cam http://www.lunatipower.com/Cam...tNumber=50256LUN&t=d
How would this do in my 582 Rons alky terminator, Dart 355 cnc heads, 14:1 comp, going in a 1950 pound 4-link dragster, 1/8 mile only. Im looking to turn no more than 7400 rpm. 1.7 rockers, Edelbrock 2927 intake. Thanks
RW

Thanks for responding Brian. The reason I like this cam is because it basically mirrors the -116 RM cam in all the valve timing events and is on a 114 lobe center. Was just a little concerned about the relatively low exhaust lift.

When I first read your post, I compared it to the RM -116 also. I've run that RM cam and a very similar Bullet grind in a 505 and a 565, and both of those ran pretty well for what they were. Those were both Ron's injected as well. I did have 1.8 rockers on the 565.

I don't think I'd run the lash as loose as the card says, especially the exhaust, so you could gain a fuzz of lift and duration there.

I'm far from a great camshaft mind, so I usually don't reply to posts such as this. If it were mine and I were buying a cam, I'd look for something a little bigger but if this cam were sitting on the shelf it would work just fine.

I agree on the lash, seems loose to me. Thanks

I run the -116 cam and have zero issues running it with moderate spring pressure (275-280 on the seat)......to 7400rpm

I set the lash at .020-.020 cold....

Jesel Sportsman Rockers.... 1.75-1.75 and Isky lifters......

It is an Erson grind, I believe and I've used other R-M cams also with good results....

i run a similar combo on gas with a very similar cam with .026 lash cold setting. 275 on the seat, have you done any a b testing with the .020 vs .026 lash settings or is this more alky related? I'd be curious.

The lash on the card is the hot spec. I also do .020 cold, which should end up being about .024 when hot with an iron block and aluminum heads.

Thanks to all who responded. Was trying to keep thread geared to meth cam recomendations rather than lash settings although some really good info so far. Thanks

I have run both with the 116 cam. Alky injection and gas carb. Runs fine with either.

I would call Bullet and talk to them. Tell them what you have and what you are wanting to improve on.

I found Bullets Ramps to be to agressive. Actually slowed my car down a little. Your results may obviously vary.

I have run comp cams since I have been racing (a long time). The last two days I have tried to call comp to order a new cam. Get message all techs are busy. I hold for 15 miniutes three different times and push 1 for a call back. Never got a call back. Called bullet today they answered right away and I ordered a cam

When I built my 582, Dart 355, Apd alky carb, I talked with Reher and they convinced me I needed there 420-117, it's 288/308. I didn't like all the extra exhaust duration but was told it would work fine. This was a 2350 doorcar, ran 5.11 in good air at the first of the season, as it got hotter car slowed to 5.20s and was very inconsistent. Pulled cam out in July and put a Comp in it 285/292 and ran 5.11 in august heat and worked well. I ran the 420-116 in my 548 in the dragster on race gas ran 4.83@142 and was deadly..... so the 420-116 or something close would prob work , with injection you could prob go a little bigger over a carb motor, I think doorcar seem to like a little less duration than dragster from what I've tried.

Hi, Can you share the cam specs/cam card you used for the 582 that went 7.31 @185?

Thanks, David
