I'm building a big duke engine and have acquired the 1802 heads(new), jesel shaft rockers(new) and an intake. The manifold that came with the heads is an oval port sniper that has been machined to work with the 18 degree heads on a short deck block. What I'm wondering is will this manifold work ok with my square port heads and is it worth playing with to make work since my engine is a tall deck. Thanks Kevin

IMO just buy a different intake if its a short deck and you plan to use the spacers to make it work on the tall deck. Them spacers suck !

The snipers came oval port and everyone just ported them to work with a rect port head. I hear the early snipers are not that good ?

X2.....sell the intake you have and put the money towards the one you need/want. Heck, with a little luck/wheeling&dealing it might be a push.

the sniper is a conv head intake not a spread port or did you mean the profiler hitman intake

Harry, Thanks for the tip. I was only going by what I was told when I bought it. It came as a package deal with heads, shaft rockers and the intake. It's been machined to work with the 18 degree heads. Looking on the profiler website it would appear as though it could in fact be a hitman. I see they're not cheap so I wonder if anyone has tried to make the oval port manifold work with the square port heads. I'm not worried about the spacer deal more the oval to square port configuration. I know it was an old super stock trick years ago to do this with the BBC and was just wondering if it's been done on the spreadport deal. It is a decent looking intake that someone has done some work too although the flanges have gotten quite thin from milling it to make it work with the 18 degree stuff. Thankls Guys. Kevin

I found a part number on the manifold (208-9) and it's in fact a hitman for a short deck. It's coated and has some port work done. If anyone knows of someone who could use this let me/them know as I think I'll just look for the proper intake I need and save the aggrevation. Thanks Kevin
