I thought I remembered a member on here making a heavy trailer tongue lock but can't find it. Any recommendations?

I just purchased the Proven Inds couple lock for my new Trailer and it's really a great piece. I can even lock up the chain hook with it. I feel very comfortable my stuff is safe now, also purchased locks for all doors all keyed the same as the coupler lock. Love only having one key for the trailer were I use to have 5 keys.

Also Great Customer service and quick delivery.

You have to put in the effort, to get anything out of it.

That's an awesome looking lock however locks are only for honest people. If someone wants to steal your trailer, they'll still steal it. A good lock just makes it harder.

I use a lock similar to this one.

Alky what I have always believed is that like you if they are determined to steal your stuff they are going to. I just try to put enough things on my trailer to inconvenience them enough to run them to my neighbors house.

I have a tongue lock, padlock on the latch, change run through the wheel and around the suspension with a hefty padlock on it and the electric jack is disabled and I have changed the style of crank hookup so it is unique to something I machined up. Plus it is hooked to my house alarm system. They might get it but they are going to put in a decent amount of work for it. LOL

If your trailer is at the track, you want to make it harder to steal than the guys next to you! Smile

If they have targeted your stuff, they won;t be using a trailer ball. They will use a lift with a large pin, scoop it up and be gone. They can fix it up a little later. For about $400.00 you can get a wireless alarm that when it is taken out of "electronic border you set" or if it moves the motion sensor it makes cell phone calls and you can track it on the website that comes with it.
I have sold them for years or you can look up Advanced Wireless, Tommy Johnson Sr owns the company.

Locks are weak but a big cable tied to an anchor in your parking spot, to the axle, that will be a surprise when the thief find their teeth stuck in their steering wheel and the cell phone calls have started that the trailer has moved.

In this day and time I think you need multiple layers of security and while they can still be stolen you make it hard enough they do not want to.
I have two locks on hitch, one on my gate in backyard and I park my truck in front of gate so they will have to break into it and move it before they could get to trailer.
Also have electronic security that I will not discuss here.
Something has changed in the last 10 years, we never had to worry about our cars and trailers. Now it is rampant. Our stuff is not even safe at some of the tracks we race at while we are running. Some people are now locking up everything when they run, we never had to do that or worry about anything. Times have changed.

-a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.
