DRR Trophy |
Looking for some help understanding front spring requirements. If the front weight of my car is 1584 pounds, does that mean I need 400 pound springs per A.R.T./Strange/RJ Race Cars or is the following more correct. 14" long 200 pound spring compressed to 10.5" long. For every inch of compression there is 200 pounds of stored energy so in my case there is 3.5*200=700, 700*2 (2 springs)=1400 pounds of stored energy. So I need to find a spring or change compression to overcome the 1584-1400=184 pounds. Am I correct????

Need to know application first.
Coilover on a Fox body strut is approx 1-1, ran 150 lb'ers on my Fairmont. A-Arms or spring in stock location on A-arm are a very different ratio. |

93 mustang using anthony jones coil over strut with offset spindel to correct bump steer. Top of strut is single rod into caster camber plate and bolted and bottom at the sprindel is going into a-arm with ball joint. A-arm is heim joint ends attached to aftermarket K member.

Like I said I used 150's in a fox body Fairmont with a 428, more front heavy than yours if using a small block. Buddy used 135's on a 83 Camaro with a BBC, same setup. 200's are heavy for that aplplication. You may need to preload the springs to get ride height. |
