Hey Folks,
A question for those using an interior cable/lever for the master shut off. Where did you look for those, and what travel length on the cable, works best for this. My car has the switch under body and a push pull knob of a rod. I should have done this before, but I still need to. Ripping gas at stripe once, it shut car off... But if I get in and have forgotten to turn it on, it would be helpful ! Thanks !

You have to put in the effort, to get anything out of it.

I bought one of these levers.

https://secure.chassisshop.com/partdetail/C72-026/

Already had a cable but one of these in your choice of length will work.

Made my own interior knob.

or you can buy this.

I will be watching this. Id like to have a dollar for every time I get into my car and have to climb back out to flip the switch.

What mounts to the disconnect to hold the cable on the switch end?

Any pics of both ends would be appreciated.

Mine is an electric solenoid with cut off switch on the dash and one at rear of car. I can shut it off from inside or outside but both must be on for car to run. Really nice. I leave back one on all the time and turn it off and on from inside.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.

Not wanting to hijack the thread, but the only thing thing that I have wired directly to the on off switch is the voltmeter. Everything else is switched on inside the car. I turn my switch on when I get the car out of the trailer and turn it off when I put it in.

Well my pics didn't come out too well but here is what I did as best I can describe. You need an end that the cable screws into to turn it 90° like this. I made my own.

It passes through one of the holes in the lever I posted a link to earlier from The Chassis Shop.

You need to anchor the cable sheath with clamps that are available such as this depending on where you anchor it.

I used the saddle type clamp shown last and anchored it to the top rail of my chassis right under my left arm. I made my own knob just because machining is what I do but you can by knobs such as this.

Or you can mount the inside end like the Lokar. The Lokar kit is really nice if you aren't someone who prefers doing your own thing like I did.

My knob looks like this so it can sit against the rail.

Been wanting to do this for awhile. Aggravates me every time I get in and forget to turn the switch on. (I turn the power off every time I get out of the car)

I already adapted this kit below to my Nova.

http://autofabcart.net/afrc-remotebatteryshutoff.aspx

I plan to swap the lever out with the Chassis Shop one listed above and mount the cable and push/pull rod with heim joints and a single bolt going thru both.

https://secure.chassisshop.com/partdetail/C72-026/

Inside the car, I'll just use a parachute handle somewhere I can get to it. I could even run it up under the dash and make it a push off.

There is a lot of ways to do it.

Have you ever considered mounting a second (down stream) shut off switch inside the car? You can cut the power from inside and not have to climb out every time you want to turn the power off.

Best way in a door car. Right next to you so you can power the car down yourself, directly by the switch if something happens
