it will go down the track BUT way too much duration at .050 and not enough lift for a run of the mill 12-13:1, 7-7500rpm 355/383 bracket engine resulting in subpar performance

I'd get it if I were you, it's a 8620 billet (bronze color) cam core for sure.

These cores will be fewer and further between off the shelf roller cams, looks like.

Big camshaft, it's really a 406 cam minimum with a 23 degree head.

It'll work alright 23 degree 383 though bracket racing. Easy on the tire.

I'd buy it if I were you, if it's smooth and shiny to the eye.

I already own the cam. Pretty sure it's gold. It's been resting in the block for many years.
It's in great shape even after having a rod bearing issue in 1998..

Stock "010" block filled,bored to 4.030, 20 year+ old never used AFR 220 heads, Jesel rockers and belt drive.

At 355" it went 10.22 as it's best weighing 3150/3200lbs with cast iron bowtie heads running a toilet(alky),1.76 PG TB, 4.56, 11.5 x 29 slick with that cam.

I don't like the crank,rod piston combo I have. It's from the 90's as well! Very heavy. The rods are 720+grams if ICRC. If were to do anything with it, I'm thinking a new rotating assembly.

Nice! Good you provided more info. I would definitely put a 3.75 stroke in it. That cam is still too big for even a 383. That being said, put it in 4 degrees advanced, give it plenty of compression, use your other existing parts & have fun. Sounds like a 9 second ride to me.

This is the premiere 355 heavy car off the shelf solid roller camshaft. I put one of these in a 355 20 years ago 3100 lb car ran low tens on gasoline Brodix T1 215's, small tire Malibu. 93 degrees overlap.

Lunati nowadays makes it in a 4-7 swap version part# 40121224

Ironically the three I used 20 years are all available today 4-7 swap.

The third down is excellent in a light car 434.

We had one going 5.50's 20 years ago with crane gold rocker arms, 434, Brodix T1 227.

All three are killer off the shelf 23 sbc solid roller camshafts, very decent power.

Me either, especially a toilet too.

Second down is a lot like I run today. These are specifications using a 1.5 rocker. I have one of these on the shelf as a spare I could incorporate easily if need be, using a 1.6 rocker on the intake.

Pulls decent to 7000-7500

Had a better one that was faster....

Old SS grind.....went 9.0 150 in an early Camaro 375 cube engine....toilet....8000 in the lights....fairly light car by then....20 years ago....

Not sure if that was with the 50140 but may have been with the other one.....

Lunati and Crane had some good cams.....very popular

Richard Woooods when he was with Lunati turned me onto to one of the first EverWear distributor gear 50140 4-7 swap cams Lunati manufactured, it's still in pristine condition on the shelf.

Always top notch service from Richard.

Crane had about 3-4 real good cams for your basic 454 bracket/super gas engine
Their Wide Body Gold rockers were pretty much unbreakable with the cams and springs we used back then.....
Springs broke but not much else.
I never cared for K-Motion springs but many people used them
They were a wreck every time I pulled heads apart that had 'em.
I can't eve recall what springs I liked from that era

A decent 454 made maybe 650-700 hp......700-750 was a real good motor and flat tappet cams were still used a lot for brackets
GM heads only were good for so much and intakes were pretty small until Darts came along....

You could buy a crate LS-7 for under $2500.....
